Actually was just thinking this same thing. Other countries would not stand for this but we have a very vocal minority who is terrified to leave their home without a gun. They are the direct cause of this and as long as they and the gun lobby can buy our politicians, no, it will not change.

The shootings happen in the most liberal areas so until we get rid of liberals, the shootings aren't going to stop.

We have a people supremely self centered who believe they have a right to everything. They have never been disappointed, they have won every game, gotten an A on every test. They have never failed at anything. Their feelings have never been hurt.

Marry those concepts with ethnic, religious and social divides and you don't have mass shootings so much as armed conflict when two opposing camps collide.

If the gun is benign, safe and lovable yet the users are the problem, why has every effort to curb the insane from obtaining guns been dismissed out of hand by the gun lobby and their acolytes?

Pretty much, yes. Minimize the exposure and the motivation for someone like Cho goes away.
It's opposed because the grabber approach is to treat the 100,000,000 gun owners who didn't kill anyone today as criminals in waiting while doing nothing to actually deal with the actual criminals (who already don't obey the law).
