It's not about the government, it's about the fact that the government turned against the citizens seemingly suddenly, stole their rights, disarmed them, then ruled with an iron fist. You also seem to think that the government would never turn against the citizens, despite that clearly happening, with you even advocating an infringement on the second amendment(While ironically calling those protecting said right "un-American"). We aren't the only nation to even revolt, nor were we the first. The government is continually expanding, the day that Americans will have to protect their rights will come any day.
