That is incorrect. Presidential Records (as defined in the PRA of 1978) are, as defined by law, the property of the United States Government.

Classified documents are also the property of the United States government. When working with classified documents, even personal notes derived from classified documents are the property of the government.

The reason the NARA shipped documents to Chicago was because that was the designated location for the Obama Presidential Library. Trump had made no moves prior to the end of his term of office or even since the end of his term to have a Presidential Library built, therefore there was no place for the NARA to ship the material. It is being stored in an NARA facility in the D.C. area, which the FPOTUS (or his designee) still has access to.

All Trump has to do is start a Presidential Library and the NARA will ship the documents to a storage facility in that area.

You want to make it sound like the NARA shipped the materials to their personal residence or stored them near their personal residence which is not the case. The Obama (since that is the one you mentioned) library is in Chicago, yet the Obama's lived in Hawaii and Massachusetts.

This is a matter for a trial jury - not the grand jury.

There is NEVER a defense presented to a Grand Jury. That's why indictments are easy to get.

Grand juries simply decide if the prosecutor has enough evidence to bring a matter to trial. That is why GRs have suck a high rate of issuing indictments. Prosecutors are loath to fail to get indictments. It makes them look really bad so they are pretty careful about what matters they bring to a GR

The defendant can introduce other evidence at trial.
