No one "blockaded the roads leading to Jerusalem in 1947 in an effort to starve out the Jewish residents".
What happened is that both the Israeli forces from Tel Viv and the forces in the Old Quarter of Jerusalem illegally attacked the road between them.
But the Jordanians defeated them, and as punishments, evicted the Old Quarter rebels.

It is simply a lie to claim the British gave the Palestinians any weapons or help at all.
The only ones who helped were the Egyptians and Jordanians.
The claim that the British were friendly with the Zionists is easy to prove with the Balfour Declaration.

And clearly the US weapons could easily have been stopped by the British, but they did nothing.

So what should Hamas have done?
Israel has already taken 85% of Palestine and blockaded the remaining areas to a starvation levels.

The Palestinians have accepted both the 1 or 2 state solution.
It is Israel that won't accept either one.
Israel won't accept a 1 state solution because there are 13 million Palestinians native, and only 7 million Jews in Israel.
Israel won't accept a 2 state solution because they won't allow the right of return of the native Palestinians who own land in Israel.
