Can Trump Turn Welfare into Workfare

If Trump started improving folks' lives in our hoods, the Democrats would panic and do everything they could to reverse it. It's all about the Party and control for them. They would never allow Trump to clean up their awful messes. They don't care about the people they've let down for so many years. They only care about maintaining power and controlling them.

No one can live on food stamps, average household getting food stamps is getting $250 a month.
Then they can do $250 worth of work a month. Clean public shitters or something.
If they can....most collecting food stamps already have a full time job, and kids, I can't watch the video on this Kindle...but a single man would not get welfare or food stamps in my state....

If they won't, one handout down and more to go.

Supporting their own kids is their responsibility not those of us that aren't their parents. I can explain in a easy to understand way why supporting my kids is MY responsibility and supporting someone else's kids is not my responsibility. Do you want the politically correct or politically incorrect explanation?

We have to get a common sense approach to welfare. For able bodied recipients, a two year approach is most desirable. Give them time to finish high school or acquire a skill and turn them into productive citizens with genuine pride.

If they are an adult, they already had time to finish school. THEY chose to quit.

In his inaugural address President Trump said he would get people off welfare and back to work. He also mentioned rebuilding our infrastructure. I hope he is planning to make those on welfare and living in government housing go to work everyday painting curbs, fixing potholes, picking up trash, anything to earn their money. Also they should be drug tested for hard drugs. Coke, crack, meth, heroin, PCP, etc.

Trump was talking about creating enough jobs so that everyone could work, not about making war on welfare recipients.

What's the best incentive to get a job? It damn sure isn't giving someone something at or above the level to which they are capable of earning based on the skills many of them offer. I'll let you figure out how to get people motivated to support themselves. I've already ruled out enabling them to not have to in order to get a check.

"Making war on welfare recipients?" FDR never had s single program during Depression where you did not work for your $$$$. Nobody complained back then happy to have the $$$. Today people take social safety net for granted. Trump will bring jobs back and that should help get people earning pay checks again.

Liberals today believe that giving someone something at or above a level they could make based on their low level skills is an incentive to get that person working.

Something like 70% of Wal-Mart full time employees qualify for food stamps

Why should someone offering such low level skills get anything in the way of social welfare if what is causing their situation is their offering of low level skills?

Should you raise the fake poverty limit to make that 99%?
The only thing FAKE about the govt calculated poverty level, IS that it is too low.....

Currently, that percentage is around 15%. That's the same percentage it was before Johnson's War on Poverty started and, as of today, spent $22 trillion. Thanks for proving it was wasted.

most people on welfare are CHILDREN, then comes their mothers then comes the elderly, then disabled.....

Fdr didn't put mother's or children to work...

It's different now because of all the divorced or single mothers.

Those children are the PARENT'S responsibility. Those mother made a choice with their body to have those children. If the choice is her, the responsibility is hers. If that single mother chose to have kids, she, by default, accepted the responsibility for supporting them. Since I didn't produce them, I didn't make the choice or accept the responsibility to do so.

My parents, both over 80, are elderly. They take care of themselves very well financially and otherwise. However, should they need something, it's my responsibility, not yours or anyone else's, to do so.

Truly disabled fits into the category of CAN'T. However, many of those on disability don't fit that. They simply don't want to work and have found a way to get around that responsibility. Had a neighbor growing up that was SUPPOSEDLY disabled enough physically that he couldn't do his job so he collected disability. Interesting thing was he was physically able enough to do all sorts of physically demanding things around the house that were much more demanding that what was required in a job he said he couldn't do.

And that's a problem in our society. Or in some cases mothers with 5 different baby daddies.

Those women that want to be the sole determiner of what she does with her body don't seem to want the responsibility that goes with such a choice.

All single mothers are not on welfare, so being a single mother doesn't explain why a woman is on welfare.

No one said they were.

Census Bureau statistics show that mothers getting food stamps were generally younger when they had their first child, some as young as 15, and were more likely to have had their first child out of wedlock.

I'm a cashier, that's bullshit!

They buy cookies, candy, soda, chips, because
they get too much, I see the snap balance.

When you have 3, 4, 5+ kids, it's thousands darling.

That's not the worst part. They buy those things you listed with EBT then magically have cash to buy cigarettes, beer, and lottery tickets.

So now they are our liability?

I live in the suburbs. I go to work everyday so I can live here. The guy next door to me has rental property as well. Because he couldn't find takers due to his high prices, he went to HUD.

There are now two tenants living there on HUD. Both (of course) have kids. While I'm out working to support my lifestyle, they sit home all day long. When I leave for work in the morning, their cars are there. When I get home from work, their cars are there. When I was on vacation during the work week, their cars were there.

Gee, I wish I could just sit home day in and day out. But I don't have kids that I can't afford, so I can't live that lifestyle.

There is something terribly wrong with a society when people that don't work live better than people that do. It's time we changed all that.

Trump does that and all hell will break loose, that is for sure.

But a question to the learned posters----------->

If you had to work at least somewhat to get your free handouts, how much smaller would the amount of protesting women in DC been? For that matter, how much smaller would the protests been on inauguration day?!!

There is absolutely no doubt, that the shiftless left are the ones always protesting about something, anything, and it usually has to do with a policy PAID FOR BY THE TAXPAYER that they DEMAND stay in place. Therefore, if you are a LOGICAL person, (which probably leaves the left out of the thought process, but I digress) you should assume that these people protesting are the RECIPIENTS of those tax dollars. TRANSLATION---------> Freebie hoarders-)

What are they protesting? They are protesting free elections in this country. This is why they should march to North Korea or Cuba where you don't have any choice. Apparently choice is not what they want to see in our government. They want to see it their way all the time with no opposition.

Much like John Lewis, the House member from a district with 17% poverty and where more than 1 in 5 use food stamps, they protest because they don't like the results.

Right to Work States should have to "prove their morals" and hire anyone who asks for a job.

A clear example of someone that doesn't know what the term means.

Just give them a job.

You can't give somebody something they don't want.

If you "made" them work, daniel would cry about it being involuntary servitude.

special pleading much? there is no unemployment Only underpayment.

Special pleading much? WTF is that even supposed to mean?

Yes, there is unemployment. Unemployment means you are not working.
nope; only underpayment. if those jobs really needed to be filled, it may require a bonus.

What does that have to do with being unemployed?
underpayment.

Many jobs don't require skills to warrant the current $7.25 minimum wage. That means they're overpaid if they get that much.

Why do you think people like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton still have "jobs". They have no desire for what they say exists to end. They'd be out of work.

The same amount. At least over here, if you are on unemployment, you are making an equivalent to $15.00 per hour when you include taxes. To get somebody to willingly surrender their unemployment, they would need a job that starts off at least at $18.00 per hour to make it worth their time.
unemployment compensation currently does not pay fourteen dollars an hour.

Better check again. It varies state by state.
I live in California.

Every place is not California. Over here, a single person can live pretty comfortable on unemployment, especially if you do something on the side for extra cash. My neighbor was on unemployment for two years. He never wanted to leave. Who could blame him? When he ran out of unemployment, he went to work with his brother in law which he could have done anytime in those two years he was on unemployment.

That isn't the point. Unemployment compensation should be automatic simply for being unemployed in our at-will employment States. Even Cobol programmers could take two years off to catch up on the latest computer code, if they don't have to worry about also having to find work, with Any natural rate of unemployment.

The point is if you don't work, you don't get a check.
