No you don't because the only variable you think matters is a gun.

Tell me why the murder rate in the UK is higher not lower than it was before all their gun laws I mean if gun laws reduce murder as you claim then the murder rate should be lower right?
There are many factors. If guns make us safer we should be the safest in the world right?

I never said they make anyone safer I said that guns in the hands of lawful citizens are not a threat to anyone and since gun laws have no effect on the murder rate as we have seen in the UK why do you think those same laws will reduce the murder rate in this country?

Why do we have so many mass shootings? Cop shootings? Accidental shootings? We have too many guns.

Don't know and don't care why people do what they do.

And we have too many criminals with guns. The vast overwhelming majority of gun owners will never ever commit a crime

So we have the most gun problems and the least gun control.
Those 50,000 dead Americans in cars shows we need to ban cars.

Our police shoot and kill way more than any other country. That is why we had Ferguson. Our police are terrified because guns are everywhere.

No...our criminals attack police more often than in other countries.......but don't worry, they are catching up over seas...

US cops killed 100 times more than German police in 2015

Yeah....our criminals are more willing to commit murder than European criminals.....until now....that is changing. The Europeans comply with their police, they don't fight and try to kill them.

Our criminals are just better armed. Guns everywhere.
So you finally admit that the problem is criminals and not guns in the hands of people who aren't criminals?

So what do you propose to do to keep criminals from shooting people?

And taking guns away from law abiding people isn't an acceptable answer
"And taking guns away from law abiding people isn't an acceptable answer"

Unless they have been deemed to mentally unfit to own a gun.

Which is why I’m ok banning registered Democrats from owning guns.

What a mind-numbingly stupid comparison. Do you even realize what you just did?

We understand how dangerous cars can be. Cars are therefore heavily regulated. They are heavily regulated as to where they can go (very few places, only roads, parking lots), and where they can't. You have to take knowledge and skills tests to get a license to drive, and then you will sometimes have to re-take these tests. You are forced to buy liability insurance to drive them. The licenses are not lifetime licenses; they have to be renewed, and any sort of unpaid traffic violation or failure to carry the insurance mandated by law will prevent you from renewing your license, or from registering your vehicle. Their manufacture and sale is closely regulated and monitored, with EVERY single vehicle being registered in a database. Every time a car changes ownership, the State must be notified for their database, and the car must be re-registered in the new owner's name.

When you purchase a car in one State, and register it in another, you must have it undergo inspection by a law enforcement official. Each vehicle has to have a large plate with a visible number, so that authorities can tell who you are (and who owns the vehicle) from a distance and from cameras in public places.

I can only IMAGINE the hissy you gun nuts would throw if we implemented even a tiny portion of this same regulation for guns.

Boy oh boy, you gun nuts like to shoot yourselves in the foot with that car comparison. Cracks me up every time.

We don't have the most gun problems.

Like I said states with the most lax gun laws have fewer murders than state with the strictest gun laws.

We have a crime problem not a gun problem. So hold people who commit crimes with guns responsible not people who never will commit a crime with a gun

What civilized country has more gun problems than us?

Prove your claim about states. Link?

Describe flanking. Why didn't you say anything to them? How many robberies in the area?

You don't know what flanking means?

The guys were walking side by side before they saw me then they separated one approaching from my right and one from my left.

That is flanking

Distance obviously. How many robberies in the area?

They were closing that distance. And how the fuck would I know how many robberies happen near the bank?

What distance? Well if they happened the police would have told you. Seems they don't there.

So since the cops didn't tell me there were any robberies at the bank recently that obviously means there never ever will be a robbery near the bank right?

For all I know these were the guys responsible for the break ins in the area and they just happened to see me at the night depository. Most crimes are crimes of opportunity after all

They started out about 60 feet or so away on the sidewalk they saw me turned into the lot from the sidewalk then separated as they closed the distance one approaching from the right one from the left I took my gun off my hip when they were 25 feet away. There was no good reason for them to approach me in that manner

So 25 feet away and you whipped out your pistol and they ran away? Not a word spoken? Why wouldn't you talk to them? Cops didn't mention any robberies so you'd have been the only one. We can keep discussing this, but ultimately the gun is easily replaced by common sense. Don't go out in the middle of the night to make a cash deposit at the bank in a shady area. I don't think we should have cops shot and mass shootings and accidental shootings because you have the right to do something stupid.

We also have way more mass shootings than anywhere in the world. Thanks gun culture.

Not gun culture, since out of 320 million people less than a handful commit mass public shootings. And of those, they are nuts.

And we have way more than any other country. Hence why we are on this board all the time discussing them. That doesn't happen in other countries. When it happens there it is a terrorist attack.

And the other thing that we have that those countries don't...as their violent crime rates go through the roof......Americans who stop violent criminals every single day with their legally owned guns........to the tune of 1,500,000 times a year....

Those are rapes, robberies and murders, all stopped by normal, law abiding Americans who own and sometimes carry guns for self defense....

You of course would prefer that those people be raped......robbed....and murdered, rather than they use a gun to stop those attacks......that is you .....asshole.

Sure and yet I don't know anybody defending themselves with a gun. All those defenses and our crime rates still suck relative to other countries. Thanks gun culture.

They have criminals who don't commit murder....bring them over here....they do throw acid, torture, rape and pour boiling water over the heads of senior citizens....

It didn't happen as often in other countries before they banned and confiscated guns.....and the worse mass killing wasn't done with a gun, it was done with a rental truck......moron.
We have mass killings all the time. Rare in other countries. Thanks gun culture.

No.....that has nothing to do with gun culture...it has more to do with rap culture, and criminal culture...and single teenage girls raising young males without fathers.

Sorry....you tried this before.....this is nothing more than gangs shooting at each other on the roads......fewer police, easy to get away.....nice lie though...

CHP says East Bay freeway shooting increase mostly gangs targeting each othe

VALLEJO — Given the alarming uptick in shootings on Bay Area freeways, including two fatalities this year, the California Highway Patrol on Friday sought to reassure the public that most of the crimes were not random but rather gangs targeting each other.

"The CHP takes any crime or violence on our state right-of-way seriously. Through the cooperation of the public andshould be noted that we’re responding to the reporters’ inquiry sent to the California State Transportation Agency. area witnesses, the CHP and other Bay Area law enforcement agencies have been able to arrest 12 suspects related to freeway shootings since November 2015.

These shootings have involved targeted individuals, many related to gang-on-gang violence. Last August law enforcement and the Contra Costa District Attorney’s Office announced the arrest of 24 gang members – many of whom they believe are responsible for freeway shootings in the area.

CORONA (CBSLA.com) — California Highway Patrol officers have closed the Southbound side of the 15 Freeway Saturday after at least two people were injured in a gang related shooting.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, members of the Hells Angels and Mongols rival motorcycle gangs opened fire on each other on the Cajalco Road off ramp around 6:30 p.m. near El Cerrito Road.

KCAL9’s Erica Nochlin spoke with officials in the area where traffic has been backed up for over three hours.

Chicago's gang violence catches highway drivers in crossfire

Jonathan Ortiz and other members of his rap group, No Nights Off, stepped onto the stage at Chicago's House of Blues in mid-September for a concert they hoped would propel their young, promising careers.

Less than two weeks later, the 22-year-old Ortiz, who forebodingly rapped under the stage name "John Doe," was fatally shot as he drove on an expressway in Chicago. His girlfriend Alexis Garcia also got a bullet lodged in her back.

Ortiz and Garcia were victims of the 38th shooting on Chicago-area expressways in 2016, a record-high number for a city stung by a murder rate not seen in two decades.

“It is overwhelming that this is the reality in Chicago, that you can drive on the expressway now and get shot at," said Tanue David, a family support specialist with the outreach group Chicago Survivors, who is working with the Ortiz family.

Officials say gang violence is increasingly spilling over onto Chicago's expressways, with innocent drivers sometimes caught in the crossfire, while the state police force is shrinking.

The Illinois State Police, which has jurisdiction over the expressways, blamed gang warfare for the increased highway shoot-outs in 2016 that pose "an extreme danger to the motoring public."

Ortiz was shot on Interstate 290, one of five expressways within city limits where shootings took place.

Everett Police: 4 teens arrested for gang-related shooting initially thought to be road rage incident

EVERETT, Wash. — Four teenagers were arrested Friday for a May 29 shooting on Beverly Boulevard that left a 16-year-old boy in critical condition and that police initially thought might be a road rage incident.

“Initial 911 calls reported a road rage incident between two vehicles in the area of Casino Rd and Evergreen Way while additional callers said gunshots were fired on Beverly Blvd between vehicles with the same descriptions,” police said in a news release. “From the investigation, detectives believe the incident was not a random road rage situation but was a gang related confrontation.”

‘Under siege’: After 28 recent highway shootings, Bay Area mayors plead for emergency help

“Our freeways have become the place of choice to undertake these murderous activities due to perceived ease of escape and the fact that there are not any surveillance cameras with recording capability to assist in any criminal investigations,” the mayors wrote.

Their letter said that elected officials and residents of West and East Contra Costa counties feel the community is “under siege” and that the rampant gun violence puts all commuters at risk.

“We offer assurance to the public that we take their concerns very seriously and understand that although we know these shootings are not random, this fact can be of little consolation to the motoring public,” the California Highway Patrol said in a statement Wednesday, one day after the area’s 28th highway shooting left one man with a bullet wound in his leg.

Still far less than it was 20 years ago or do you think all those extra guns just appeared since 2016?

I wonder how many of those violent crimes were due to the peaceful riots, I mean protests, like the one in Ferguson

Not sure, violent crime is up with concealed carry though.

Correlation is not causation

More guns less crime? Not so much.
Wrong again... lol
2017 Real Time Death Statistics in America

Violent crimes and murders increased in 2016 for a second consecutive year, FBI says

And the increase is due to the Ferguson Effect....not law abiding gun owners owning and carrying guns....

Hard Data, Hollow Protests

The reason for the current increase is what I have called the Ferguson Effect.

Cops are backing off of proactive policing in high-crime minority neighborhoods, and criminals are becoming emboldened.

Having been told incessantly by politicians, the media, and Black Lives Matter activists that they are bigoted for getting out of their cars and questioning someone loitering on a known drug corner at 2 AM, many officers are instead just driving by. Such stops are discretionary; cops don’t have to make them. And when political elites demonize the police for just such proactive policing, we shouldn’t be surprised when cops get the message and do less of it.

Seventy-two percent of the nation’s officers say that they and their colleagues are now less willing to stop and question suspicious persons, according to a Pew Research poll released in January. The reason is the persistent anti-cop climate.

Four studies came out in 2016 alone rebutting the charge that police shootings are racially biased. If there is a bias in police shootings, it works in favor of blacks and against whites. That truth has not stopped the ongoing demonization of the police—including, now, by many of the country’s ignorant professional athletes. The toll will be felt, as always, in the inner city, by the thousands of law-abiding people there who desperately want more police protection.
