Citizen United being used to defend Disney over DeSantis attacks.

....Not the least of which is that NOBODY is entitled to special carve-outs from the rules and laws, that every other business is required to adhere to...
So Daytona Speedway should also lose their special district?

How is DeSantis creating a NEW Board of his own appointees in explicit retaliation of Disney's free speech a 'special carve out' for Disney?
Is the new board controlled by a State agency or Disney?
How is DeSantis threatening Disney with special inspections and punitive state construction projects a 'special carve out' for Disney?
Don't like it, move....That's the answer that you neo-Marxists throw around all the time, when it suits you.

Could be...I certainly wouldn't be a fucking whiner -like the OP- if they did.

It's the nature of asking The State for special privileges.

1. There are limits to free speech, especially when they conflict with parental or religious rights. Who said "I know obsenity when I see it"? Obsenity is not guaranteed free speech is it? You still can't say Carlin's (7) or so words on TV without bleeps can you? Why not? Censorship is NOT "attacking".

2. You're confusing decency with bullshit.

3. Just saying, if FL wanted to attack Disney there are better ways. FL is NOT attacking Disney, FL is protecting children.

4. FL is not attacking Disney. FL is protecting children from obscenity. Stop lying.

Your 'logic' is gibbering nonsense. Is DeSantis 'don't say gay' law any less enforcible because Disney is publicly criticized it?

This has nothing to do with freedom of religion.

The doctrine of freedom of religion concerns solely the relationship between government and those governed, not between or among private persons and private entities.

That a private company expresses support for gay and transgender Americans doesn’t ‘violate’ the religious liberty of ignorant, hateful, bigoted conservatives.

Moreover, the state of Florida did in fact attack Disney: “Disney's lawsuit alleges that a newly formed DeSantis-appointed tourist board violated the company's contract rights, and did so without just compensation or due process. The company is asking the court to declare Florida's legislative action unlawful.”

Last, there is no ‘gay agenda,’ that’s a ridiculous lie.

To defend the rights of gay and transgender Americans from attack by the state and hateful right-wing bigots, as Disney has appropriately done, is not to advance a ‘gay agenda.’
1. Freedom of religion means opposing deviant behaviors.

2. Freedom of religion generally means freedom from obscenity.

3. Why can't you say FUCK on TV without bleeps? Think hard.

4. How did FL attack Disney? FL did not. The courts will decide. Disney risks getting Budweisered.

5. Promoting deviant behaviors is the gay agenda.

6. Disney had better choose the best option for stockholders and not deviants.

Is the new board controlled by a State agency or Disney?
Its not controlled by Disney. Thus, what 'special carve-outs' where created for Disney when DeSantis and the FL legislature targeted Disney by creating such a board?

Explain it to us.
Don't like it, move....That's the answer that you neo-Marxists throw around all the time, when it suits you.

Laughing....so if Disney doesn't like DeSantis flagrantly abusing the power of the State to strip it of its 1st amendment rights, it should move somewhere else?

So much for your 'special carve out' theory.

Laughing......you lightweight.

MAGAts have no idea what that is...........all one has to do is see who their leader (messiah) is.

You mean Pedo Joe and his druggie larvae?

There's no such thing a s a Don't Say Gay Law.

Irrelevant to the question I'm asking.

Is DeSantis 'don't say gay' law any less enforceable because Disney is publicly criticized it?

You're squirming, because you know the answer.

Its not controlled by Disney.
Then it's a State agency regulating a business, not the business regulating itself...I though you liberoids loved you some regulation of businesses.

They surrendered their rights for the privileges of Reedy Creek....That's how it works, Corky.

Again, the beneficiary is beholden to the benefactor...Don't stick your thimb in the eye of the guy giving you something that you wouldn't have in their absence, then go around whining and crying about your rights.

hen it's a State agency regulating a business...I though you liberoids loved you some regulation of businesse

What special carve out was created for Disney by the creation of this 'board' by DeSantis in legislation *explicitly* targeting disney?

This wasn't Board that DeSantis created that applied to all of the State. The board that DeSantis created applied only to Disney property

You know, where DeSantis threatened to build a State Prison near in another act of 1st ammendment retaliation?

Then the board that DeSantis created and filled with his cronies applies to ALL of Florida? Or just Disney properties?

What special 'carve out' was created for Disney when their properties were put under the authority of a board created by DeSantis for the express purpose of ONLY applying to Disney properties.

Your lightweight argument MIGHT have worked on simply dissolving Reedy Creek. It shatters to meaningless shit the moment DeSantis created a SPECIAL board to rule over Disney. That's not a 'special carve out' for Disney. That's being targeted by the State for exercising their free speech rights.

And a flagrant violation of the constitution. As demonstrated by both the Citizen's United ruling, which most definitely protects those rights. And DeSantis' follow up THREATS about special inspections and building prisons next to Disney.

Try again, lightweight.

Nothing that Disney is doing is obscenity, and at least 5 of the 7 are said on TV these days.

3. Just saying, if FL wanted to attack Disney there are better ways. FL is NOT attacking Disney, FL is protecting children.

Nothing they are doing will have any impact at all on "the children". DeSantis does not care about the children, just that Disney had the audacity to stand up to him

4. FL is not attacking Disney. FL is protecting children from obscenity. Stop lying.

Link to obscenity at Disney world...I will be happy to wait...

As I have shown, your words have no basis in reality.
Your words having no basis in reality is non-transferable.

The largest private employer in Florida, pro-business conservatives, and the Florida taxpayer are speaking for themselves.

The authoritarian's intended revenge upon the corporation for exercising its right of free speech has backfired.

In essence, Citizens United makes it impossible to pursue campaign finance reform.

No it doesn't. But Congress would have to pass a law that would limit the rights of corp

But I think there needs to be better clarity on what rights corporations share with "natural people". Next the wealthy will ask that their corporations should have the right to vote. The Koch brothers were able to use this decision to donate $50 million to federal Senate Campaigns. Imagine how many votes they'd have had.

Its demonstrated that conservatives never had any commitment to free speech. As demonstrated by DeSantis firing an elected official in violation of the 1st amendment for speaking out against DeSantis' policies.

Conservatives cheer DeSantis using the power of the state to punish those who disagree with them....because that's the conservative ideal. This has always been the plan.

If you want to see the Conservative vision for the future, look no farther than DeSantis' targeting of Disney and attempting to strip them of their 1st amendment rights. Their banning of books. Their prohibition of free speech in classrooms.

DeSantis has abandoned the libertarian proclivities of conservatives in his authoritarian zealotry. He want his big, intrusive government to dictate to medicine, education, science, private enterprise, and people with wombs.

Libertarian proclivities? You don't have the criminalization of everything from interracial marriage to homosexuality because you've got 'libertarian proclivities'.

The USSC checked conservatives over and over again on these issues. With the Supreme Court lifting those restrictions and granting the States more power to strip people of their freedom.......conservatives are jumping on that opportunity with both feet.

Authoritarianism was always the plan.
