Been there done that, the oil companies want to micromanage "independent truckers". Safe and legal isn't a good enough standard for them. I had no problems with the drug tests, I got fed up with the BS after 6.5 years. You have to be on drugs to put up with it.

That's exactly it and I make that argument when liberals say that people are on welfare because of not enough jobs. I tell them to send those unfortunate our way. We need over 50,000 new drivers this year that industry can't find. Now employers are turning to foreigners to do the job; some can't read or speak English and they are terrible drivers to boot.

My employer goes through the drug problem every time he looks to hire somebody. The few that are willing to take the job can't pass a drug test which my employer requires because it's a government mandate, and he doesn't want to train people only to lose the job because they can't pass a government required drug test.

My father is a retired bricklayer. His union sends their retirees news letters about the trade all the time. They couldn't find new workers to join the trade because of drug testing. Granted it's hard work, but it pays very well and my father made a great living being a bricklayer.

The union was asking their retirees if they knew anybody (who could pass the drug test) that were young, willing to work and start a great career. They couldn't find people to do it.

Trade school requires people to work with their hands. Many younger people today believe that if they are going to go through the expense and time to get educated for a job, it better be a job where they don't lift more than five pounds a day.

I remember when Pelosi was yelling at Bush, asking him where the jobs were when the unemployment rate was 4.5%. Apparently, the left thinks the only acceptable rate is 4.4% because now that it's 4.3%, they are upset because it's too low.

And the fact that employers will raise wages on their own to keep people is also bad. As far as the people needed for the new jobs being created (another positive thing), perhaps we can get those people rioting in the streets to get a real job. Probably will pay better than what Soros is paying them now. Or companies can hire those able bodied people who are tired of waiting for government to hand them a life.
