Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School student Colton Haab said he was approached by CNN to ask a question at Wednesday night's town hall but decided not to after the network gave him a "scripted question," quashing one he wrote himself. Haab, a member of the Junior ROTC shielded students while the school was under attack from the shooter, said he was going to ask about using veterans as armed security guards.


"CNN had originally asked me to write a speech and questions and it ended up being all scripted," Haab told WPLG-TV.

"I expected to be able to ask my questions and give my opinion on my questions," Haab said.

"Colton Haab, a member of the Junior ROTC who shielded classmates in the midst of terror says he did not get to share his experience," WPLG's Janine Stanwood explained.

"Colton wrote questions about school safety, suggested using veterans as armed school security guards but claims CNN wanted him to ask a scripted question instead so he decided not to go," Stanwood reported.

After seeing an interview with Colton Haab, we invited him to participate in our town hall along with other students and administrators from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Colton’s father withdrew his name from participation before the forum began, which we regretted but respected. We welcome Colton to join us on CNN today to discuss his views on school safety.

I don't know if he did go on CNN today or not, have not had the TV on.....

Well they most likely got some other kid to ask one of the questions they scripted for Colton Haab.....so I guess they got what they wanted out of it.

The problem with all of this is I've been in a war zone when CNN was around....and they are a security risk to our military.
They were more friendly to our enemies that they were to us.
They had such a bad reputation with our forces that our Blackhawk pilots would make a point of dusting off their rooftops when they were getting a suntan turning them into a gritty sugar cookie.

When you know you can't trust a news organization to keep secrets from our enemies that means to me (and should mean to any rational American) is that CNN feels they are not a friend to the US.
I used to watch CNN International alot when I was over seas. They don't have a high opinion of the country they're based in.
So if you have people working there that at times have shown hatred for this country, I really don't think they have our best interests in mind.
Thus.....I don't trust anything they have to say.

Why not? He needed to memorize it so to say and ask what was allegedly scripted that CNN allegedly gave him?

It was his father that called CNN later and said to them his son would be unable to attend, or something of the sort, is what is being reported?

And his idea of using vets to fill positions as guards at schools is not an off the wall suggestion, imo.....it's a better idea than arming teachers and putting it on to the people who are suppose to be educators and suppose to be protected by the school system/local police, as well as the students....
