The OP raises an interesting question
What would an Obama presidency look like if he had not received complete and total oposition to every proposal and initiative in his Presidency?
What would the Stimulus have looked like if Republicans had participated?
What would Obamacare look like?
What would our unemployment rate be without Republican opposition to jobs programs?
What could Obama have accomplished in a bipartisan environment?
He had a super majority...he wasted it.
So...
If certain Americans were not so inherently predisposed to hate Obama before he even took office, would America be in a booming economy and taking the lead in the world in all aspects by now?
A fair question I believe.
Instead of acting in their constituents best interest, many have decided that they would rather just oppose ANYTHING from Obama.
Even if doing so harms America.
Cutting off your nose, to spite your face!![]()
Imagine what he might have done with a little competence. The man should never have been prez in the first place. Even Hilary would have accomplished more with the super majority for 2 years and control of the senate for 5.The OP raises an interesting question

1) There was GOP support for many of his policies initially.
2) The stimulus would have contained more supply side stimulus and fewer transfer payments, leading to stronger economic recovery and lower unemployment
3) Obamacare never would have happened and millions of people would still enjoy their health insurance policies
4) Obama's jobs programs consisted of throwing money at unions and other favored constituencies, rather than actually creating jobs. Which is why UE sucks.
Why do you ask?
In playing their "Obama must fail" card Republicans ended up with an all or nothing strategy. In trying to ensure that Obama will get nothing that he is asking for, they also ensured that Republicans got nothing they wanted either
As it was...
Obamacare passed
Taxes on the wealthy increased
Gays got more rights
What did the Republicans get for their obstructionism?

Dems had their chance but choose on affirmative action principle rather than qualifications.
So the general RW Repbulcian response is that, "yes, we broke it and now we're extremely angry that Obama hasn't fixed it fast enough."Sorry, but I am not proud of him at all.
However, he DID inherit a huge mess and not a lot could be accomplished within that time frame. But, he didn't do ENOUGH. He just turned out to be just another politician that wanted the highest office and said whatever needed said to be voted in. And he was. But he didn't live up to his "yes we can". Um. No he couldn't.
What did Bush accomplish actually?and democrats loved bush and always supported him
thread fail
It is High Noon where I am.
Indeed, indeed. What is even sadder is that many here do not think there is a racist component to the hyperbolic reaction to his election. Marxist, socialist, kenyan, communist, muslim, anything scary except what they really think, at least on a public forum, in private I have heard the racist component often from others who think my hillbilly appearance makes me one of them. To deny totally that a LOT of people hate him for his race (human?) is to deny the sad reality of America, We have not progressed as far beyond the 1950s is we like to tell ourselves. If certain Americans were not so inherently predisposed to hate Obama before he even took office, would America be in a booming economy and taking the lead in the world in all aspects by now?

Parts of this country weren't ready for a black President.
Sad. Very sad.
And they keep breeding kids and home schooling them twisting the Bible into racism and homophobia.
Sad. Very sad.
From Day 0 Republicans have shown that they WANTED to be in the back of the bus.He sure didn't.
He won by god and the Reps were relegated to the back of the bus.
We can all see how well that worked out for America.
Y'all are so funny!
I can't wait until high noon.
At high noon, I'm going to tell you all about who Barack Obama is!
Be in this forum at high noon today.
I'm not gonna even entertain your hatred tonight.
I shall obliterate these fallacies at high noon.
KING!
Yay....we have another racist new poster. Who also happens to have the insight of a cow.
Holding obama to any standards is the same as holding him to impossible standards. When he was running for office the first time, that what his wife, now the nation's first heifer complained about. They are always raising the bar, ONLY her husband has to raise money, ONLY her husband has to put together an organization, ONLY her husband had to win primaries. No one else. Only him. It was never done before. They kept raising the bar for him setting the standard just out of reach.
If obama and his obamabots expected him to get a free ride because he's black he was mistaken. He was actually expected to perform beyond a game of pick up basketball with Jay Z. Then he failed with real world consequences for real world people some of whom aren't black. How racist of them to complain.
No president in modern times has ever had to operate in such a irrationally hostile legislative environment. When you look at all the hyperbolic hand wringing to even the most innocuous actions of the executive branch it is amazing he has not just resigned and said "fuck you, you self involved America hating assholes, I'm moving to Canada".
We can only hope there is still time for him to do that.
"We have the votes. Fuck 'em." -Rahm Emanuel, chief of staff to Obama in the first term displaying his brilliant bipartisan instincts for working with the GOP.
Do you want bipartisanism or do you want democrats to cave to republican hostage tactics every time? They are not the same thing.

Whining? the entire premise of this thread is whining because the president has failed badly. It is a transparent play to deflect, which too has failed.Whining about "Obama is unqualified to be president" five years after he was elected rings hollow. Obama was elected....TWICE
What do Republicans have to show their faithful after five years of obstructionism?
Obamacare was passed
Stimulus passed
DADT was repealed
15 States have legalized Gay Marriage
Financial Reform has passed
Taxes were increased on the wealthy
What did you gain Republicans? You would have had alot more to show if you had engaged in bipartisan politics for the last five years

Compromise: A settlement of differences in which each side makes concessions.
The result of such a settlement.

Except the "15 STATES have legalized Gay Marriage", everything on your list has been absolute, monumental FAIL, costing the people of this country billions, no, trillions of dollars, lost jobs, lost opportunities, lost hope.
The gay marriage thing, that was a states' issue and your boy and his administration had nothing to do with it.
