I think the gist of Drudges report is that the bear attack sequence looks more like a rape than an actual mauling. The still I saw from the movie looks like the damned bear had DeCaprio in the Misisonary position, lol.

A real bear mauling is nothing like that. The bear will get a bite into the victim and drag them while twisting their head back and forth. Generally this follows a knock down by the bear using its paw swipe or a charge that hurls its weight head first into the victim.



As you can see from the video, lying still in a fetal position does NOT do shit to get the bear to leave you alone.
