Who do yo want to fire?

Teachers?
Cops?
Firemen?

another favorite "trick". We all want Police Fire and Military but we also want it smart and efficient with reasonable retirements and staffing.

Start with the FED GOVT. Get rid of the useless waste. The list is massive. We can post it 1000X daily and yet many claim we must fire Teachers and Cops. nice try. depressing.

States can cut down where they see fit. Big issue is FED GOVT growing out of control with $20T debt.

Been hearing about useless waste ever since there has been a government

It is a fantasy that it will reduce debt

they don't get by on magic money trees growing somewhere.

That is another issue (FED manufacture money). I don't quite understand ramifications, but BHO years have been living on fake money.

Our dollar is is stronger than when Obama took office
The strongest currency in the world

Uh, oh. You are referencing reality again.

Is the 25K mark shown (above) 25K companies? 25K warm bodies? 25K projects? 25K full-time? 25K part-time? 25K mixed full and part-time? 25K long-term gigs? 25K short-term gigs? 25K vendors and suppliers? What?

And... what was the Savings (if any) in full-time civil servant manpower? Were these 25K procurements mostly new? Mostly replacements for older ones? Mostly contract renewals? How much of this was procured as a result of new assignments or projects undertaken, vs. how much was maintenance-mode stuff?

Would the work done by these contractors cost us more, if we hadn't farmed it out?

You're off to a good start, but there are a vast number of unanswered questions ahead of you...

Gov workers are destroying this country.

They get paid double what their private sector counterparts are paid (benefits), retire earlier (55), get every city, county, state and federal holiday off, never work more than 40 hours a week, complain endlessly, as a group vote for those who raise taxes and then (endlessly) increase their salaries (annual 2% cola plus 2-5% performance), are mostly unionized, and produce absolutely NO wealth for the country.

Any hope for revitalizing this country’s economy begins with massive defunding of gov workers salaries, pensions and benefits.

Otherwise it’s same ole same ole, higher taxes to accommodate the unionized gov workers constant demand for salary increases.

UPS drivers made $5.00 more an hour than me and had some nice Teamster Benefits
retire earlier (55)
to get full benefits you have to put 30 years in.....and in the line of work i was in you usually have bad ankles or knees, bad back or shoulders, some have scars from dog attacks to show for that time in...
get every city, county, state and federal holiday off
bullshit....i only got federal ones no state or county or city....
never work more than 40 hours a week
oh really?....very seldom did i go 40....usually 50 plus, especially during Christmas and election time....
complain endlessly
some did some didnt but other jobs dont have complainers?.....
and produce absolutely NO wealth for the country.
the PO makes billions.....no other agency can say that....and if congress did not call the shots the PO would turn a profit....

Another problem with having such a Monster blood sucking Federal government . they are sucking the life from those of us who has to PAY for them. They've now become a burden on us all.

It’s a good thing Trump wants to rebuild our manufacturing base, because it truly has taken a hit. We’ve turned from a nation of builders to burger flippers.

To put in perspective just how bad things have gotten – there were more Americans employed in manufacturing in the months leading up to Pearl Harbor than there are today, despite the fact that the population then was a fraction of what it is today.

In that time, there was 1 person employed in manufacturing for every 10.6 people in the overall population compared to 1 person employed in government for every 26.1 people in the overall population.

Oh how things have changed. As CNS News reported:

p-aD1qr93XuF6aC.gif

The 2015 Federal budget spends an unprecedented $3.7 trillion which leaves us with a deficit of over half a trillion dollars.

Those employed by government in the United States in August of this year outnumbered those employed in the manufacturing sector by almost 1.8 to 1, according to data published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

There were 21,995,000 employed by federal, state and local government in the United States in August, according to BLS. By contrast, there were only 12,329,000 employed in the manufacturing sector.

So blame the government workers....can you expect more from Alllen West?
and in the time i was with the PO they reduced their workforce quite a bit....

There are good government workers, I've worked for many. But there are a LOT of worthless deadbeats too stupid to be employable in the private sector. When government started allowing unions in they worked against our best interest and we have no recourse. We can't simply use another government.

This is what happens when Democrats are put in power, they put the unions in, the unions take dues from the employees and funnel it right back into the Democrats party. It should be illegal, any private company that did that would be indicted.
so the Teamsters never gave to the Democrats?

whoa, another comment with the article. these are from two different sites. one was from Allen West and then this site I'm quoting with this comment

Repeat after me: public employees don't pay taxes.

Say this as many times as you need to until is sinks in. NO public employee pays ANYthing for taxes, retirement, unemployment insurance, medical benefits, ANY of it.

This is a fundament of economics as simple as you get more of what you subsidize and less of what you tax. and almost no one gets it and certainly no one is talking about it. Not out in the open. It’s contrary to how our consensus public education victimhood would have us think about wealth creation, redistribution, generational theft.

How can someone who is PAID by taxing the wage-earners, the ones who CREATE value in the economy, pay taxes? It may say they do on their pay stub, sure, and they are asked to put in a little more for benefits, but in reality, every time a public employee from President Obeyme down to the least-paid garbage collector (cough-cough don't they make something like $200,000 a year in New York City?) gets a raise, it is paid for by someone who MAKES that money. The money they are paid is redistributed from wage-earners.

Think of it this way: a public employee saying the too pay taxes is like a man standing in a bathtub with a tea cup scooping up and pouring out water saying “see, I’m filling the tub.”

Think it over. Change the conversation. Pass it along. Open someone else's eyes.

The discussion should be, are we truly getting value for our money spent and how do we take control of government “by, of and for the people” back from politicians corrupted by taxpayers dollars laundered through teachers/public employee unions, planned parenthood, Solyndra, GE, and all the rest?

How do we delegitimize the naming of roads, public buildings, parks, stadiums after “public officials” who have made a lifetime’s wealth out of bilking the true wage-earners out of the fruits of their labor and, like Mooch hell Obeyme, Bernie Sanders, Hillary Clinton, Elizabeth Warren, done their level best to make them feel guilty for wanting to keep more of it while they live large at wage earners’ children’s children’s children’s expense.

If you don’t get this, don’t argue, you’ll only display the depths of your ignorance for all to see.

"sent manufacturing overseas"..Save it for the people who care. Like those running for office under the democrat umbrella.
The fact that you found it necessary to add "capitalist" to your statement indicates your argument is nonsense. Like it or not, our system of regulated capitalism does the best for the most. You people on the left use capitalism as a negative buzz term.
The fact is that our manufacturing base is fine. We make lots of stuff here. Of course global competition and the highest corporate tax rate in the industrialized world and the fact that our government has entered into these disastrous free trade agreements, has made it necessary for companies to locate factories overseas in order to be able to compete with the lower labor costs of foreign competitors.
Your comment about the "stability" of the federal workforce is......hogwash. For such a thing to be true, then the same must hold then as it does now. That the federal government is the nation's largest employer.
Federal non military employment could be slashed by at least a third and no one would notice.
We simply do not need to employ assistants to the assistant deputy undersecretary to the deputy secretary of the dept of redundancy dept.
There is so much stuff done by federal employees that could be farmed out to private contractors. Such as......The US Park Police....These jobs could be eliminated by using the DC police Dept. There is no need to have redundant services.
There is also no need for federal employees to maintain the grounds of federal buildings, facilities etc. These services could be contracted out to the lowest bidder at a huge savings.
There are many states that do similar contracting. As well as thousands of municipalities.
Government has gotten much too large and intrusive. There is a real need to shrink government to a more manageable and less costly entity.

That graph is wrong then or some one don`t know how to read one. Since when did 2500, become less than 2700. You go up from 1966 it is 2500, where 2014 is 2700.
To me that is more working for the gov now than in 1966

Does federal employees encompass the military? How about private security firms? Off the books think tanks/pacs that are now considered private after the SCOTUS decision?
I don't think anyone considers military "federal employees". Yes they are payed by the federal government but you aren't really an employee, they own you. Civil Service, yes. I worked for them 3.5 years in a VA hospital so can add many worthless deadbeats just for that. In fact, when the highest payed top dog of the department finally finally retired as a GS13 his position was never filled. No one knew how he really spent his day.
There are tens of thousands of government positions where the placeholder really has very little to do.
