I didn't go into every detail on this, but the underlying fact of this case is the fact that the US Government, specifically the NARA, refused to exercise due diligence by taking possession of the documents they felt were US Government property before Trump left office. So as soon as the documents left the White House not only were they declassified but also became personal property of the president. If they wanted them they should have taken possession of them before they left the White House.
Only the president can decide what is classified, not some un-elected government official attempting to set up Trump after the fact.

He thinks (at least apparently form the post) that the White House Staff all walk out and the NARA walks in and examines each documents sorting them into Presidential Records (to be kept by the NARA), Personal Records (to be kept by the outgoing President), and Agency Documents (to be returned to the source agency).

That isn't reality based.

What happens is the NARA sends a couple of staff to advise and coordinate logistics, the actual sorting and transportation is arranged by the outgoing administration.

However the FPOTUS hasn't made any claim in court that he secretly and mentally declassified documents PRIOR to leaving the White House. Once he left he no longer had that power.

Please, PLEASE Ex-President Trump if you are watching. Please make that claim on the record in court so that it opens the door for the prosecution can impeach the claim.

Even if Trump had the codes to launch nukes they would be rendered obsolete when he left the WH and are updated periodically. No nuke codes he would have on his person today would be valid.

They asked for and got 15 boxes of documents, but apparently this wasn't enough for them. Trump had every right to take what the GSA packed up for him.
However, Joe Biden had no right to the classified docs they found on him in various locations after he left the WH as former VP, yet they chose not to charge him.
