Well....that's nice. At least Obama and his family got to have a nice trip to Africa and spent 100 mil of our money. But forget our military having any fun.....

WASHINGTON — The Fourth of July won't have a patriotic boom in the sky over some military bases because budget cuts and furloughed workers also mean furloughed fireworks.

Independence Day celebrations have been canceled at the Camp Lejeune Marine Corps Base and at the Army's Fort Bragg, both in North Carolina. The annual July Fourth celebration also has been scrapped at the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany, Ga.

The reason is money – namely the lack of it.

What??? Satanists? I'm not agreeing with you on this one....my son is stationed at Bragg in Special Forces, and he's definately not a satanist. Not saying there are none in the military, but you can't make me believe this. Where does it say this in the Bible?

Actually, that money could not have gone to the military

That is why sequester was such a piece of crap. It called for 10% accross the board cuts for each agency. If one agency cuts 15% that does not mean that another agency only has to cut 5%

I have not been one to criticize President Obama a great deal for his incessant travels and vacations. There have been many times when I felt he and his family should be more in touch with the rest of America, but I have written little about the subject. The latest in the Obama vacation saga is hard to ignore. I can not help but wonder where he and his wife have placed their priorities. This comes from BadBlue.


TPNN – Fourth of July celebrations have been cancelled at Camp Lejeune Marine Corps Base and at the Army’s Fort Bragg. The fourth of July celebrations have also been cancelled at the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany, Georgia. The Shaw Air Force Base in South Carolina have also cancelled their Fourth of July celebrations as well as the Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam in Hawaii and New Jersey’s Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.

All of the celebrations have been cancelled due to budgetary restraints.

Ever since the GOP forced the hand of the Democrats and sequestration went into effect, we have seen countless examples of how this has affected the workings of our government. At every turn, we are reminded that budgets have to be cut because our government simply doesn’t have enough money to operate. White House tours have been cancelled. Air shows are grounded. Now, the 4th of July celebrations have been cancelled at several military bases. Here is more from the source.


4th of JulyThe Tea Party is a fiscally conservative organization and we advocate small, limited government. Though Senator Harry Reid and other hysterics would like to label us “anarchists” or advocates of no government, we are merely advocates of small government that makes good decisions with taxpayer money.

We don’t mind paying taxes; we just observe that we pay too much into a complicated system to fund a largely inefficient government layered with redundant bureaucracy and nonessential services. We are happy to pay for paved roads, for mail delivery and, yes, for those who risk their lives in the defense of their country to see some fireworks on the Fourth of July.

When we consider what else the government is spending our money on this month, it seems clear where their priorities are:

While the government spends $37 million to promote the greatness of Obamacare (including $990,000 to the Los Angeles school district to train children to promote it to their families), the government can’t keep the White House open for tours.

While the government spends $53 million on the “Yes Youth Can” program to promote fair elections and voter ID requirements in Africa, we cannot spend money on fireworks for military bases.

And, of course, all of this occurs as Obama, Michelle, their children, Michelle’s mother and Michelle’s niece sightsee around Africa on a fabulous $100 million vacation that is paid for by you and me.

It is absolutely shameful where our government’s priorities are.

If obama's trip to Africa was a diplomatic mission, that was an utter failure. So far, he's just pissed everyone off. He came close to getting thrown out of Senegal with his demand that they accept homosexuality and fell flat in Tanzania when he told the people that living in mud huts was saving the planet.

President Obama has pledged $7 billion for electricity and “clean energy” initiatives in sub Saharan Africa (how do you say “Solyndra” in Swahili?).

Part of Obama’s plan to power up Africa includes soccer balls that generate electricity. This just has to be part of FLOTUS’s Let’s Move program:


And then today, White House aide Mike Froman explained the soccer ball idea to the press aboard Air Force One, as the pool report details:


Mr. Froman also talked about POTUS’s efforts to help bring reliable power to Africa, which will be the subject of an event in Tanzania on Tuesday morning. He noted as one example an invention designed to bring electricity to many of the small villages that are not connected to the grid.

POTUS will cite on Tuesday two women from Harvard who invented what’s called the “socket ball” — it’s a soccer ball that has a small electric generator inside a soccer ball. As kids kick it around all day, it generates electricity and stores it in a battery.

Mr. Froman said that he and Mr. Rhodes tested out the “socket ball” and that it will be demonstrated Tuesday (though it’s not clear that POTUS will kick the ball around or not.)
