IMHO, Sinatra was one of the greatest performers ever. Most important of all, he recognized talent in others and did not leg he ego get in the way. The Rat Pack was but one of the many ways in which he promoted others.

Few know how Frank was responsible for desegregating Nevada casinos.
And even fewer know of his generosity to those in need.

I have my Dads collection of Sinatra recordings from the 1940's thru The end of his career. I've never bought any of his music except for an anthology which has about 75 songs.

What a voice though!

If there ever was a singer grossly over rated, it is Frank Sinatra.

He had a harsh, rasping and rough voice which he, sadly, used time and again to sing tender love songs and successfully butchered them all.

And in my opinion he wasn't such a great actor, either.

Dude, you have great taste in music!

Frank was great, but sometimes, especially early in his career, his songs were seriously over produced. This one is downright embarrassing:

You may not understand what it meant to be a man in the years between WWII and the 1970's.

If the urge ever hits you to get a feel for what it was, let me tell you, its an essence.

And if that essence had a spokesman it was Old Blue Eyes.

The Chairman of the Board.

I only saw him perform live once.

And it was in the November of his years.

But he had all of us in the audience in the palm of his hand.

So talk about him all you want.

Luckily, appreciation of the man's talent and his performing greatness doesn't depend on your opinion.

Frank did this entire scene in one take, the first take. It is as good as the best acting I have ever seen:

The best thing Frank had was Nelson Riddle and his orchestra. While he never admitted it publicly, he often told his close circle Riddle was responsible for his longevity.
