GOP Quagmire

Yeah, and he's gonna build a wall that Mexico will never pay for, and in being tough on China, he's going to continue to have his and his families clothing line made there.

What do you base that assumption on?

Because none of you can explain how he'll force Mexico to pay for a wall it doesn't want, and because the factories in Mexico and China are churning out Trump products nonstop even as I write this.

There has been plenty of discussion of how Trump might get the Mexicans to pay for it.

And your concern about his clothing line is noted. Trump the businessman played by the crappy rules other people wrote.

That is not reason to believe that Trump the President might not change those rules to benefit the people that put him in office.

And who will be the people who decide whether or not he gets a second term.

Anything that Trump has stated he would do to make Mexico pay for the wall is something that has to be done by Congress, not just him, and McConnell has ALREADY said that the GOP is going to drop Trump like a hot rock if he's the nominee.

And, if Trump REALLY cared about this country, he would have had his clothing lines made here in the USA (yes, there are clothing manufacturers here in the USA), but instead, he chose to cut costs and ship the jobs over to China.

Nope, sorry, but Trump doesn't have any clue as to how to get things done.

Trump has not said what he will do.

As an experienced negotiator, he knows that you do not publish, for your opponent to review, your entire negotiating plan in advance.

It is understandable if you did not know that.

And your pretense that you care about Trump making clothing overseas and not here is noted.

I replied to that and you ignored the points I raised.
I am a fan of Trump as an entertainer but couldn't possibly give him my vote for president given the simple fact that his last job was a reality TV show host... he has no experience! With that said, I do have to agree with Correll... There are many tricky ways he could get funds for the wall, perhaps not a 10 Billion dollar check from Mexico, but we have enough leverage to get that from our trade deficit or other means.

As for the clothing... Trump has always been a business man and has shown some dominating smarts and success in that field. The way the world is set up right now makes it nearly impossible to run a successful business with American made products, especially in the textile world. I have a side business making sports apparel and I would love to manufacture in America but there is just no way I can make reasonable margins and still be price competitive. I just don't think the "made in China" argument is a strong one to rally anti-trump support. He is applying the smartest strategies to build a successful business, some have failed but in the end he has shown great success, you aren't going to touch that... move on to the next point.

With the GOP unable to stop the guy who will be there presidential candidate they are beside themselves on what to do about him. They've brought out Mitt Romney and other 'moderates' in the party to try to steer people away from voting for Trump but Trump's followers seem to be in a state of mental frenzy that they can't resist. He can do anything and they cheer louder. The traditionalists in the GOP cannot control the rather small but radical element in their group that insist on burning down the 'normal' and replacing it with their own hard-right wing agenda and world view. They take great glee in destroying all that came before them and don't want anyone telling them what to do, especially the GOP regulars and ideological standard bearers.

Isn't this exactly what we see with the radicals in Islam? They've hijacked the entire religion, don't want anyone to tell them what to do, take great glee in burning down all that came before them, and will not listen to any other ideology. Especially the moderates in their group.

Have a moment of clarity conservatives. The world is larger than you think and you can now understand why an entire religion is not to blame for the actions of a minority in that religion. 25,000 nutjobs does not represent 1.3 billion people.

Any more than the Trump cohort represents clear minded conservatism.

Yeah, that is scary. Kind of what the liberals did to the Democrat party back in the 60's!!!!

The difference is that when Democrat voters see their party F-up, they blame the Republicans. When Republicans see their party F-up, they blame the Republicans.

Trump is the result of years and years of the RNC ignoring their voters. Maybe now they will take us serious this time. :Boom2:

Nobody is going to force anybody to come back or to stay in the US. We have trade agreements in place so any action would have to be a modification of those agreements and would take an act of congress. Best we can hope for is adding incentives for companies to stay and move to the US along with imposing and enforcing penalties on any country that manipulates currency or takes advantage of the trade deals to undermine the world economy. It will be a slow process but something has to be done.

Not really. Trump is not running on a small government platform, his prime issues are Immigration and Trade.

It's called an even playing field.
Fair Trade is not No Trade.
A Trade imbalance along with Accounting Laws that make off-shoring attractive create an even playing field.
When many companies that require a certain skillset have to move back so will those of Trump's that require a certain level of skillset.
I don't think Trump will cry if he's no worse off than his competition.

It's everyone's fault.

It's the democrats for being just as in the rich's pocket as the Republicans

It's the Republicans who only Serve the rich

And us for only voting every 4 years.

Half the people who vote this year will vote in 2018. It's how the rich/corporations/Republicans keep power

Sure, if you like blatant anti-white discrimination as per the New Haven Firefighter Case.
