GOP to shutdown govt. and default on debt

the question is a fallacy.

The question is legitimate. None of you libs will touch it.
This is so typical of you people on the left.

the question presumes that the House of Representatives and the Senate do not represent the people.

this is false.

The Senate does not represent the people. That is the purpose of the House of Representatives.
The Senate represents the interests of each individual State.
Hence the reason each State has equal representation ( 2 Senators)..
In any event, the question leaves you perplexed, so you dismiss it. Fine.

Really? You've never heard of lobbyists?

something wrong with Freedom of Speech?

Nothing at all. But there is something very wrong with government that interferes in the market on behalf out well heeled interests. By ignoring Constitutional limitations Congress has become a "broker" for those who wish to use the state to ensure profits.

Lobbying has has very little to do with freedom of speech..
Lobbying in it's purest form exists to educate House and Senate members on issues of which they have little or no knowledge.
For example, it is unreasonable for anyone to expect a House member to have a grasp highway engineering. So lobbyists can meet with members to inform them of how their desired project will work.
Of course that is in a perfect world. As we know, lobbyists are modern day arm twisters and horse traders. "If you vote for this, we will promise you something in return"...

The Senate does not represent the people....

sure it does.

The People elect the Senate.

Only to the extent that the people and not as in the past, Members of the state's House delegation elected them..And only to the extent of the popular election...
After that, the Senator's function is to act in the interest of their respective state.
Now stop arguing just to argue. You are wrong and that is that.
Do some frggin research.

do you have a problem with The People promising votes in exchange for supporting specific policies?

lobbyists do just that.

No, Sparkles. Your sad attempt at diversion to protect your girlfriend presumes that. My question refers to something entirely different from the talking points you keep trying to insert into the conversation, as you would know if you were at all capable of reading comprehension.

When? I have yet to meet anyone who had their premiums go down. At best they've gone up and kept the same level of coverage. Most people I've heard from have had premiums go up and coverage go down.

folks in NY will see their premiums decrease.

folks in Washington too.
"if you want to keep your current insurer and coverage, you can"..
"You can keep your same doctor".
"Everyone making less than $250k per year will see their insurance premiums go down $2500"...

Creating one's own reality to further a political agenda does not change the facts for everyone else.

To be fair the House was originally the people's house. The Senate was to represent the State legislatures. The assumption being that the Senate would have a reason to keep the size, reach, and power of the Federal Government to a minimum.

Yea, they've done such a good job over the last 7 years. They've kept those presidents in check haven't they and states rights are at the top of their agenda.

Misogynistic attacks aren't going to help you any more than hiding behind your puny boyfriend's pathetic attempt at diversion on your behalf. Everyone here knows perfectly well EXACTLY what my questions refer to, and they know it's not "Oh, you think the House represents the people, but not the Senate".

It's up to you how irrelevant you want to be, and how much permission you want to give everyone to utterly disregard you. I can do this forever, or until you stop being a pussy, whichever comes first.

Let's try this again, shall we?

Why are you afraid to let the People and their representatives decide for themselves what should be funded? Why do you think you should be able to TELL the People what they do and don't need to pay for in government?

Nod... well the Senate no longer represents the State legislatures. The senate is now just two additional representatives of the popular vote of a state. Thus, this particular check on Federal Powers has been neutered. The Senate, by and large, appears to be primarily focused on re-election through buying as many votes as possible with special interest money and tax payer funded spending.
