Government Spending On Health Care In Switzerland

There are many reasons health care is expensive here, you can't see any of them because you want others to pay your way. We get it.

The bottom line is single payer would ultimately cost the United States less money and it would create a healthier society because of preventative care. I imagine you probably think of yourself as a conservative; that's ironic considering you support the more expensive healthcare system.
Bottom line, the career politicians and their federal government are a bunch of fuckups... Do you want a bunch of fuckups trying to take care of you??
Lol
No thank you!!

Government spending on health care in Switzerland is only 2.7 percent of GDP, by far the lowest in the developed world. By contrast, in 2008, U.S. government spending on health care was 7.4 percent of GDP. If the U.S. could move its state health spending to Swiss levels, it would save more than $700 billion a year.

'Course that would deprive insurance companies of massive annual profits...Can't Have That!!
It should not be up to the federal government to pay for healthcare, it's not a right...
Public school used to not be a "right" either,
Thats a roaring success isnt it...if increasing ignorance was the goal
It is a roaring success! Before public schools, basic education was lacking if one didn't have the money for school.
Go look at tests from then and tests today ...........ignorance abounds.......
Thanks to socialism...
Lol

I wouldn't be too quick about calling public ed a roaring success. People should be able to keep their tax dollars and spend them at public or private ed, their choice!
I don't think you understand how public schools work. States need tax dollars to fund public schools, how do you propose they get them if they stop collecting? The us govt could always give the states dollars to cover the gap, but I doubt conservatives want that to happen.

History doesn't lie. How many people were able to read before public schooling swept across America? How many knew basic math?

That whole system is FUBARed there is no saving it, just like the country's tax, spend and print policies. The country has passed the point of no return.

No, public school tests... on average it is abysmal. And yes, no body is arguing the merits of free,, basic education. Unfortunately the school system has been overrun by unions and leftwingers who have little interest in actually educating any more.

The following document was transcribed from the original document in the collection of the Smoky Valley Genealogy Society, Salina, Kansas. This test is the original eighth-grade final exam for 1895 from Salina, Kansas. An interesting note is the fact that the county students taking this test were allowed to take the test in the 7th grade, and if they did not pass the test at that time, they were allowed to re-take it again in the 8th grade. Also of note, the school year was but 7 months, beginning October 1 and ending April 1. allowing 5 months for planting, farming and harvest.

I wouldn't be too quick about calling public ed a roaring success. People should be able to keep their tax dollars and spend them at public or private ed, their choice!

You're delusional, the country becoming more and more socialist everyday. Socialism is a society exclusively for Deadbeats, a very contagious disease of choice.

It worked very well to get us out of a Hoover depression. I know.....I was there.

I will also point out that George W. Bush assumed a thriving economy with an unemployment rate of 4.3%, a balanced budget, then immediately cut taxes twice, continued to spend like a drunken sailor, ran up six trillion dollars of new debt and left a recession that if big banks had not been handed $700 billion would have been worse than the 1930's.

Hoover greatly extended the depression with all his public spending. People have to pay for the programs, whatever you put into the public sector comes out of the private sector. obama has put us much deeper in debt with little to no results so your rants are lunacy. Nor have you figured out the role 9/11, Katrina or the housing bust has played. It's amazing how people twist their minds to believe in something.

Maybe if other people stop telling me how fat I am then I wouldn't spend so much money on health care.

Y'all are always pining for all the socialism in Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland. Just move over there. We won't miss you here.

Shucks.....your right wing rich man's sympathizer ass will be there a long time before I ever do. I was around in the 1930's/40's and saw what the government can do when it works for the people instead of the rich and corporations.

Well, that was back when there was some semblance of honesty, integrity, and less corruption. Govt was still in bed back then with corporations.

Well...you just proved your ignorance on the subject. The banks all closed their doors and nothing improved until Franklin Roosevelt's programs began. My Dad worked on the WPA drawing $3.60 a week for 48 hours. The depression actually was not completely over till the 2nd World War started. When the Republicans screw things up they do a fantastic job. Look at what happened beginning with Ronald Reagan:

There are a lot of countries that also spend less on education than us, and get better results. Are you in favor of that as well?
