Governor of US Virgin Islands commands NG to seize all guns and ammo

Since I have posted this excerpt twice now- which shows it right there

And a link to this was in the OP- the truth is out there for those who bother to read the posts.....

Wonderful, interesting to note that the governor has delusions of grandeur. But that still doesn't void the US Constitution or the Disaster Recovery Personal Protection Act.

On July 13, 2006, the Vitter Amendment passed the United States Senate 84 to 16. It was retained by the conference committee. President George W. Bush signed the Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act on September 30, 2006 and it became Public Law 109-295.[4]

Wow- so you finally figured out that there is a Virgin Islands law that has been mentioned from the very first post.

Good for you.

Meanwhile I believe the gun count of those seized in the Virgin Islands has gone up to ZERO

But the hysteria level of the gun nuts remains at Code Red.

LOL

Never doubted that there was an attempt at a law on the books but I wondered when it was passed and if it had been rescinded as so many of those "laws" have been. I still don't know but but have already spent far more time trying to find out than the question is worth. The fact that it is unconstitutional and a violation of a federal act is more than enough to invalidate it and always has been. The sad thing is that the governor was willing to risk a violent confrontation in an effort to oppress the people he is supposed to be serving at the very time he should be doing his utmost to protect them.

'oppress' what people?

The fact is that the governor spent his time working to protect the people of the Virgin Islands- unlike a single one of the posters here at USMB.

How many guns were seized? Zero.

How many lying headlines by gun nuts on the internet? dozens- maybe hundreds

You know like the lying title of the thread?

Look at a small selection of these titles- every single one a lie by gun nuts- or those seeking to infuriate the gun nuts

Do you claim that the following are lies?

U.S. Virgin Islands Gov. Kenneth Mapp signed an emergency order allowing the seizure of private guns, ammunition, explosives and property the National Guard may need to respond to Hurricane Irma.

The governor of the U.S. Virgin Islands has ordered its national guard to seize guns, ammunition and other weapons from its citizens as the territory prepares for Hurricane Irma to make landfall.

The governor of the U.S. Virgin Islands has ordered the territory's national guard to begin seizing guns and ammunition from citizens in preparation for Hurricane Irma's landfall.

Yeah- these two parts are flat out lies

1) The governor of the U.S. Virgin Islands has ordered its national guard to seize guns, ammunition and other weapons from its citizens as the territory prepares for Hurricane Irma to make landfall.

The order authorized the National Guard to seize guns and ammo if necessary- never ordered the National Guard to seize anything- Pants on Fire lie- the NRA thanks you for your support.

Pogo

Well well...fresh new from the Virgin Islands.
“I actually know of eight people that were robbed in broad daylight with machetes for everything they had in their vehicles, including their fuel. Yesterday we spent about 3 ½ hours in a line for fuel, and machetes were pulled there as well. We’re getting stories of people being robbed at gunpoint in their house for something as small as a can of tomato sauce,” he told FOX Business’ Trish Regan on ‘The Intelligence Report.’

Laplac said since the police force is “limited,” he has to protect himself from looters.

“At night right now in my house we have a couple of guys with me, we’re taking four hour shifts and we’re standing out there with the one pistol that we do have, machetes and flashlights to make sure that nobody comes to loot us without us seeing them,” he said.

How can they have a pistol?

Didn't the National Guard seize them all?

Oh right- the gun seizures in the Virgin Islands are now up to: Zero

Gun hysteria continues at: Red Alert

The NRA thanks you.

And so the looters came with giant knifes (machetes) and other savage weaponry.

And you wonder why the law abiding people of the Virgin Islands want their firearms.

I guess its a good thing that no one tried to take their guns away from them. Or even ordered their guns taken away from them.

governor got punked seriously Syriusly , NRA and other gun groups involved , gun grab headlines all over the net . Its ALL good Syriusly !!

Are you now ready to concede that that quote was not a lie and apologize for your slander or do you not consider your lies less important than those of others?
In the other two instances you are content to split hairs "authorize" "direct" and "order" have very similar meanings.
Your charge of lying is just an obvious attempt to spin tyranny. No matter what the NG did or didn't do in no way changes the fact that the Governor issued an unconstitutional (illegal and treasonous) order. Your defense of his act is an excellent example of why Americans should support the NRA.

There was no 'tyranny'- there was an order that authorized the National Guard to seize weapons if necessary. There was no order to seize guns from citizens. You posted three lines- two of which were lies- and I will be glad to post them again:

Yeah- these two parts are flat out lies- the only question is whether they are your lies- i.e. you posted them not knowing them to be false- or whether they are someone else's lies- but they are lies.

Apparently you don't read any posts but your own.
Again, what the NG did and how many guns were seized is entirely beside the point. It was issuing the authorization to violate the US Constitutional rights of US citizens that was the governors' crime. Semantic games don't change that or your false accusation of a lie.

More likely the coverage of the issue by the NRA brought New Orleans to his attention when the NG seized firearms there resulting in a train of massive and expensive lawsuits, something the small Virgin Islands most certainly cannot afford.

The governor was made properly aware of the implications of his plans and decided his territory couldn't afford to defend its position in court. Imagine being known as the governor who bankrupted his district/state/territory over a clearly unnecessary and unconstitutional issue?

When you claimed that the governor commanded the seizure of all guns and ammo you lied.

When you later posted three claims- and challenged anyone to show that those were lies- I showed that 2 out of the three were lies.

The governor never ordered the seizure of guns. He never commended the National Guard to seize all the guns.

You lied.

Shocking I know.

Imagine the governor not actually doing what you gun nuts claimed he had done?

The governor never ordered any seizure of the guns. The governor cited a specific piece of Virgin Islands law that included authorization for gun seizures- which was never done.

Now- if NRA thinks that law is unconstitutional- then the NRA will go along with its law suit. I am fine with that. Funny that the NRA never even noticed that Virgin Islands law specifically allowed for that.

governor got punked and NRA not going after the 'vi' law before this is good tactics . The gov got punked , gun owners and NRA are animated and are in the news as well as the punked governor is in the news and being laughed at Syriusly .

The NRA argues people need to be able to protect themselves during times of natural disaster.

Of course there's a statist LAND GRAB behind this as well:
Mapp signed the order Monday in preparation for Hurricane Irma. The order allows the Adjutant General of the Virgin Islands to seize private property they believe necessary to protect the islands, subject to approval by the territory’s Justice Department.

Looks like they're afraid someone's gonna shoot back if the government attempts to steal their property.

Typical tinfoil gun fetishist. Biggest storm ever recorded with winds of 185mph threatens to wipe out several countries, leaving people homeless, drowned and worse, they're looking at devastated infrastructure including months without electricity ..................... and what you're worried about is "protect the guns".

ASSHOLE.
If they can take away the second amendment, they can take away the first amendment, or any other constitutional rights we have.
ASSHOLE.

[As I noted before- this is not a lie- and is accurate- operative words here are 'allowing the seizure' and 'the National Guard may need to respond'- not ordered a seizure, or seizure from citizens]
The governor of the U.S. Virgin Islands has ordered its national guard to seize guns, ammunition and other weapons from its citizens as the territory prepares for Hurricane Irma to make landfall.

[As I noted before this claim is a lie- and makes your statement in your prior post also a lie]

"He never commended the National Guard to seize all the guns."

From his order: "The Adjutant General is authorized and directed to seize all arms, ammunition, explosives, and incendiary material..".

'authorized and directed to seize....what is necessary'

The reason why the Virgin Islands National Guard never seized any guns is because
a) They were not told to seize guns from citizens
b) They were authorized to seize guns only if the Adjutant General (the commanding officer of the National Guard) decided it was necessary for the Hurricane emergency.

Virgin Islands Emergency Order

The governor issued an emergency order (not an emergency suggestion or emergency hint). Read it yourself if you ever get tired of making up "facts" as you go along. In so doing he called it an order. Do you claim that he is a lier also?
You continue to claim l lie in statements I never made in the first place and referring to them no more makes me a lier than it did you when you quoted them also.
Please don't pretend you have any idea why the NG did anything.
AGAIN, whether he "ordered" or "authorized and directed" the seizures is totally irrelevant to the argument (the actual issue) that either is beyond his authority and unconstitutional. Nobody died and made him King.

The governor issued an emergency order .

And that Emergency Order never ordered the National Guards to seize any guns.

Here is a large part of the Order right here- and among the highlights:
  • Ordered the mobilization of the National Guard
  • Authorized the seizure of arms that may be required by the military forces for the performance of this emergency mission.
  • And ordered the disbursement of funds necessary to carry out the mission.
Notice the difference? In some cases the Governor ordered specific actions- and in others he authorized specific actions- if necessary.

And you promoted that lie here.

The NRA commends you for your contribution to gun hysteria.

"The Governor never ordered the seizure of any guns."

I never said he did but-as you just admitted-he did in fact "authorize and direct" seizure of guns in his order. You can play word games all you like but, since it was an order he issued, many would say he ordered it. I really don't care which is correct because attempting to authorize is as unconstitutional as ordering.
