Govt Employees Outnumber Manufacturing Employees 1.8 to 1

It probably has more to do with the fact that the private sector spent their time busting unions. Now that the private sector has screwed themselves and they are miserable and unhappy they want to screw the hell out of anyone else.
What planet are you from?

People don't want to pay extra for union costs, America votes on that. Businesses can't shut down the unions. You've got tunnel vision.

I work on some federal projects and one client has other agencies involved and they add requirements, inspections and guidelines in order to receive their money. That's right, their money, not ours. So we have a bloated government that spreads like a virus creating more hosts so they can grow even bigger to feed even more government and you think the private sector responding to public demand is the problem? You need air!

And why would you deny a bureaucrat their job?

Generally, it's their job to enforce the rules. The more people we have doing that the more rules get enforced. One day we will have a police officer on every corner watching our every move.
Why not if we are going to all be working for the government keeping tabs on each other. Let's just make enough rules to keep everyone employed. Great pay, vacations, benefits. What could go wrong?

First of all cut ALL federal salaries by 30%

then do this;

Congressional Reform Act of 2016

1. Term Limits

12 years max, some possible options are below.

A. Two Six-year Senate terms

B. Six Two-year House terms

2. No Tenure / No Pension

Members of Congress receive a salary while in office,

that salary ends when they leave office.

3. Congress members (past, present & future) are to participate in Social Security.

All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system

immediately.

All future funds flow into the Social Security system,

and Congress participates with all Americans.

4. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan,

just as all Americans do.

5. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise.

Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

6. Congress loses their current health care system

and participates in the same health care system as the American people.

7. Members of Congress must equally abide by all laws

they impose on the American people.

8. All contracts with past and present members of Congress are void effective 1/1/16.

The American people did not make the contract members of Congress enjoy,

Congress made all these contracts for themselves.

Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career.

The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators,

so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and back to work.

Government employees are over paid for what they do and many of them shouldn't be doing what they do. If the private sector can do the job that's where the job belongs. The government was too big in Reagan's day and the population of greedy government socialists has grown since.

lavish gvt benefits and salaries for government "employees" creates an artificial middle class of people who would have to go get real jobs otherwise.

how many unelected "czars" does obama have now?..25?..30?

how many people "work" for them? how many offices and office machines, cars, security, etc...

it's a boondoggle...

No matter how much they have they want more. They do much better than their counterparts in private industry, which is where the jobs belong. We're turning into a government ruling class over subjects and they blame businesses for not handing over more while regulating them to death. And businesses are the ones that feed them. No one will accuse the fat socialists of being smart.

Can't be done without a Constitutional Amendment.

Probably wouldn't pass muster as an ex post facto law.

Much like the fiction that Democrats are out to help the poor, just as ridiculous is notion that Republicans are the party of smaller government.

Here are number of executive branch employees at the end of our Presidents' final full year in office or from year indicated):

Kennedy (1963) 2,498,000
LBJ 3,020,000 20.9%
Nixon/Ford 2,833,000 -6.2%
Carter 2,821,000 -0.4%
Reagan 3,054,000 8.3%
GHWB 3,017,000 -1.2%
Clinton 2,639,000 -12.5%
GWB 2,692,000 2.0%
Obama (2014) 2,663,000 -1.1%

In terms of spending growth, here's chart showing growth in federal spending starting with Reagan.

oh...ok counselor...whatever you say...

let's just leave it the way it is, then..government is fine..everything is under control...consume and obey....

..and eventually the answer to the problem will be "1776"

remember how and why this country was founded.

EDIT;
hey Jarlaxle.....My tone was sarcastic and out of line in that first sentence...I apologize, bro..

There's a myth that manufacturing companies can't make a profit using American labor at a decent wage.

What they can't do is make huge profits.

We are $18 trillion in debt and we need to raise the debt ceiling again.....
We are spending on something right?

The number of manufacturing employees has dropped, the number of government employees has stayed the same

Not to mention that since the recession, almost a million government jobs have disappeared.

I fail to see the connection between manufacturing jobs being sent overseas and needing fewer teachers, police, public works, state and federal employees

Take a look at the DOJ website. Go ahead. Just visit the website and look at how many different divisions it contains. Then think of how many thousands of people with enormous pensions and salaries are working in those divisions. And you Liberals sneer at Conservatives that have been saying for decades the government is bloated and needs to be reduced.

Govt will manage to run massive deficit despite taking in 3 trillion dollars....and it aint defense spending causing it

the money to pay government employees comes from tax collections, when american jobs are exported tax collections go down.

we are currently borrowing 40% of what the government spends. the country is 17 trillion in debt. this is insane fiscal policy.
