Work helping old people!
Work educating our children!!! Public schools!
Work making sure people have healthcare and unemployment. You know they make sure they don't die on the street!
Environmental pollution regulators making sure everything is clean for our health!

They are all useful? To whom? How do you know that? I would like to see as a first step just quit hiring and creating new departments. Every government department including the Pentagon could be and should be cut 10% which would result in no reduction is service and INCREASED efficiency within the departments. That doesn't have to happen overnight but it needs to begin to reverse the endless expansion since the 60s.

According to the link in the OP, only 2,738,000 of those 21,995,000 Government employees are actually federal employees...the rest of them are state and local government.

That's a surprise with the overwhelming Republican control of states.
