why are you people trashing a celbration of the end of slavery.

Its history and its real.

We are a DECENT country because we did this

It was white people in the US and Europe that brought an end to the trans-Atlantic slave trade. If it were not for the efforts of the white abolitionists the trade would still be flourishing. The Africans had no other resources and therefore traded flesh.

It's history and it's real.

It is the society that you live in. There is nothing surprising nor unusual about their posts.

This is America .. however, there is good news.

They are shrinking, and almost completely dependent on white males.

Oh I know it but the people on the right here are the worst of the bunch.

i talk to white people all the time who would be very intersted in this historical day and would understand and honor its importance like a real American should.

really dude its likely a less racist country than you think and a more racist country than I think.

The right here is just fucking horrible

I see the country exactly as it is. I've studied it. That's why none of these comments surprise me.

I don't accuse everyone of racism, but nor am I blind.

The war on drugs is undeniably racist .. but that's a battle that black people must fight on their own .. as usual.

can we see the laws that only black people will be arrested or drug related crimes?

What you can CLEARLY see if the evidence and the data.

Laws? :0) Obviously you must be new to America.

NOPE... your wrong as usual.

I am saying that there is NO one to blame for one's drug abuse except the drug abuser.... Ya cant go to jail for drugs unless you are in posession of and or using them.

How is it racist?

Ive been to jail a time or two for pot posession... I dont remember anyone prying my hand open and handing the pot to me, or sticking the joint in my mouth and forcing me to puff on it.

If there are more blacks in jail for drug related crimes than whites... then maybe they should wise up and STOP ABUSING AND SELLING DRUGS..!!!!!

With all due respect, there isn't much critical thinking required to recognized the racism in the war on drugs and you have yet to reconcile the rates of arrests with the rates of use and who is using illegal drugs. Much easier to reach for the meme than to actually engage in critical thinking.

These are your words ..

We were talking about who is in jail for it and why

Yet you reject the critical determination of who is in jail for it and why.

The Color of Justice - excerpt

The law enforcement methods developed in the course of the "War on Drugs" are utilized almost exclusively in low income communities of racial minorities; they would result in publicized outcry if practiced in middle class white areas. The outcomes differ among the regions and states, but in 2000, according to the Human Rights Watch, blacks were sent to prison on drug charges at the rate of 20 to 57 times that of whites in fifteen states. Nationwide, African-American prison admission for drug offenses rates had increased 26 times between 1983 and 2000, 22 times in case of Latinos, and 8 times for whites. Three-fourths of the imprisoned have been blacks and Latinos, while the majority of illegal drug users and dealers are white. The relevant black imprisonment has declined more recently by some 25% from its peak in the 1990s, but African Americans are still being incarcerated at grossly disproportionate rates. The official explanation for the disparate numbers, the crime rates, is belied by research data: The surveys that have been conducted so far show people of all races using illegal drugs at "remarkably similar rates". Drug markets reflect racial and socioeconomic boundaries, that is most users buy drugs locally from their own. Yet in 2006 for example, 1 out of every 14 black men was incarcerated, compared to 1 in 106 ratio for white men, due largely to the racial bias of the drug war practices.

AGAIN, reconcile the data and statistics if you want to make an intelligent argument supported by facts.

DID ANYONE FORCE THAT POOR BLACK MAN TO USE OR SELL THE DRUGS????

Its the abuser's fault and no one else's!!!! I dont give a rats ass what color their skin is.

Besides, I went to jail with a black friend years ago for smoking a joint and guess who spent more time in jail.... I DID you twirp!
Ya want to know why??? Because I had an arrest for posession on my record already and he didnt.... WOW how racist were they for sticking that poor little white boy in jail... OH BOO fucking HOO!!!
I WAS WRONG AND I DID THE TIME. It was MY OWN fault.

I have news for you BAC... the drug policies in America fuck all of us if we decide to use drugs.

I for one think the drug laws need to be changed, but to claim they are racist is a joke.

Empirical evidence, study, and data are not your forte' brother. I get that.

Your own sad story does not factor in any of that.

I'm looking for converatsions with people who know what those things are and include them in their discussion.

Meme-speak is down the hall.

Meme-speak is down the hall.

IOW you are not interested in anything but being told what you want to hear.

Likely that would be that laws are stacked against black people. Still, you have yet to cite those laws that single out black people.

:0)

It's not my responsibility to make anyone here smarter.

The notion that "laws" are required to oppress black people is just too unintellligent to debate and light-years from anything remotely considered smart.

You keep running from all the glaring evidence and empirical data .. again, from intelligent conversation.

If you're not interested in evidence and data .. you should excercise your right to go talk to someone else.
