Have two minimum wages. One for under 18 and a living wage for over 18. Let these employers start paying a living wage or fill all their slots with kids. No more taking advantage of the poor!

Nope.

Age discrimination definition
Definition: Age Discrimination. The Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA) prohibits age discrimination against older workers (persons 40 or older) in all aspects of employment. The Minnesota Human Rights Act more broadly protects all people over the age of 18 years from age discrimination as students and employees.
Definition: Age Discrimination | Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action
What part of 18 did you have trouble understanding?

It a perfect economic system (I know we don’t have one) there would be no need for a minimum wage. Employers would be free to pay the market rate for labor, and workers would be free to expect pay commensurate with the work/value they provide. Those workers who provide more would move up the wage scale.

People that need a wage capable of supporting a family need to have the skills/ability to perform a job that merits that pay. Society does not owe anyone a living.

That however does not preclude charity to those that need it.

Employers already prefer to hire high school and college students so this would only give them a legit reason.

why , because they are a threat to Trump. I swear, Trump is above the law and can't be indicted because he would have to indict himself.

Good going Cons, we now have a Potus who is above the law and is going to take down the FBI with Fox's help.

You are unaware that "18" and "over 18" are in fact ages? Did you miss this part of the definition you quote:
"It is unlawful to discriminate against an employee or applicant on the basis of age with respect to any term or condition of employment including but not limited to hiring, firing, promotion, layoff, compensation, benefits, job assignments, and training."

Age discrimination.

Interesting thought, but democrats don't want fixes and solutions....they have to rage at things, it's why racism is no longer serious things like segregation and such, but horrible things like being called the N word or someone looking at you funny.....and don't even get them started at pulling over a black person because their tail light is out......

the fact is most of the min wage jobs are not heads of households and therefore if people saw that, the democrats would lose all of their moral high ground.

Obvious side effect of Living Wage is enticing kids under 18 to drop out of High School and become comfortably independent.. It's a TERRIBLE negative incentive to stay in school. Maybe you Fixed that. Maybe you didn't. Because of the failing students are MORE then 18 when they finally are booted out of HS with a dumbed down diploma..

What would be BETTER is NOT make folks comfortable in menial no future jobs with no continuing education. Which is why I propose that we REQUIRE anyone earning a min wage to be in SOME kind of continuing education as condition of employment. Exemptions for seniors and seriously mentally handicapped.

It's only illegal to discriminate based on age if they are over 18.

If employers were free to pay "market" rates, and presuming the elimination of unions, wages would follow the up and down cycles of labor availability. Put simply, every sumer when the kids get out of school, wages would plummet, and when they return to school, wages would sky rocket.

Minimum wage, is the economic driver for your proposal. Employers paying a minimum wage, require a minimum education and proficiency from their employees. The higher that minimum wage or offered wage, the higher the necessary job skills.

Lowering or eliminating the minimum wage would encourage people to drop out of high school,

Wrong. Untrue. If people over 18 cannot be hired to certain jobs based on the pay scale you would indeed be discriminating against them. Do you also advocate discrimination based on sex race or religion?

Whose neck would you prefer to stand upon, a full time worker making $5.70 an hour or a high school kid looking for a part time job? Clearly you want to keep the working poor poor.

The age of majority is generally 18. Those underage cannot vote, join the armed services or buy liquor.

True (mostly) but also entirely beside the point. There are all sorts of entirely legal ways to discriminate against (or in favor of) people. But a great many Americans seem to believe in equal pay for equal work.

Which is the preferable citizen; one with a full time job making enough to provide for himself, or so,wine making $5.70 an hour and on food stamps?

A citizen who pays taxes, or a citizen on welfare? A motive adult, or someone disincentivized by a dead no job with inadequate pay?

WTF do you think allows you the idiotic assumption that I have a desire to stand on anyone's neck? Or that I wish to keep the working poor poor? The OPs suggestion would in fact only serve to make things worse for workers.
At one time it was also considered a given that men deserved higher pay than women because men supported families while women just wanted part time jobs to supplement.

Youth Minimum Wage Program

A minimum wage of not less than $4.25 may be paid to employees under the age of 20 for their first 90 consecutive calendar days of employment with any employer as long as their work does not displace other workers. After 90 consecutive days of employment, or when the worker reaches age 20 (whichever comes first), the worker must receive at least the Federal minimum wage.

various minimum wage exceptions apply under specific circumstances to workers with disabilities, full-time students, youth under age 20 in their first 90 consecutive calendar days of employment, tipped employees and student-learners.

but hey with the new tax bill workers are going to see 4000 wage increases, Pubs stated so.

Obvious but again entirely beside the point. I believe the OPs suggestion would result in far more harm than good.
