I've had this experience around 2000. I supported the invasion of Iraq but I defended those who opposed it. I just kind of thought it was healthy for people to disagree with going to war with another country. I own my own company. I had to stop listening to Rush at work because my VP of sales kept getting so upset every time she heard it. I'm not even a republican, and she knows that

not in my family most of them are democrats with a few socialists mixed in

That is why, even though I am not a Republican or a conservative, liberals keep referring to me as rightwing. They cannot grasp that someone can disagree with them and not be right wing.

That you listen to Rush proves to them that you are on the dark side and cannot be trusted. He may have felt betrayed by you in some fashion also.

If you think this stops with him no longer talking to you, then you are mistaken. This guy will now slander you behind your back, fuck up your work effort and try to get you fired. In his mind it is part of his righteous war on evil.

Some unsolicited advice; never trust that man again or give him a positive reference. Dont resort to lying about him, but dont strengthen the hand that will one day turn on you, either.

There was an invasion of Iraq in 1991 as well, idiot. It was mostly liberating Kuwait but also crossed into Iraq territory also.

Friends is still on the air, it is playing all the time. Rush hasn't been on the TV for years. I don't think I ever said to someone I watched Rush on the radio.

We have this experience with the right all the time: conservatives lying.

And they commonly use Orwellian principles to paint themselves as victims when, in fact, they are the oppressors. In their skewed world view, "freedom" to them means "their [alleged]right to use the power of the law to deprive others of rights and to ignore laws they disagree with."

Sure. I encounter it quite often on LGBT issues. I might support a particular policy but do so for a different reason than the gay mafia victim narrative and then I get attacked by them for being a homophobe for not supporting it for the right reasons. Just agreeing with them is not enough--I must think like them as well apparently, which is completely ridiculous of course. If they saw my shoes, they would want nothing to do with me.
