traditional child-rearing practices. I believe that some of the dysfunction of black families is a left over from
subsaharan tribal concept of "family" which worked in that context but does not work in the USA

in their "formative" years is very MATRIARCHAL.
Fathers are HARDLY in the lives of the kids and the kids are not in the midst of the relationship ----whatever it is----of their parents------they are around women.

With respect to the education gap, how is it that 'racism' is responsible for these areas in which black students fall short when compared to white and Asian students:

The number of days absent from school

The number of hours spent watching TV

The number of pages read for homework

Quantity and quality of reading material in the home

The presence of two parents in the home.

in their "formative" years is very MATRIARCHAL.
Fathers are HARDLY in the lives of the kids and the kids are not in the midst of the relationship ----whatever it is----of their parents------they are around women.
When a boy become a "MAN" ----is a big event----he becomes something separate from the society of his mother. It works if that situation is part of that society.
