Housing is not a right

I think the most who complain about social programs are those who don't pay taxes.

Please name an American adult who doesn’t pay taxes.

Anyone at all.

Mentally ill lesbians who receive SSI and adoption subsidies to pay them for abusing the children their friends in child welfare provide them with...in addition to housing subsidies, foodstamps, and often tanf.

They don't pay any taxes atall.

Yes they do.
No, they don't.
Not a dime.

why do so many libs keep saying that it is?
You prefer them shitting on the sidewalk in L.A. because they're living on the street with no options. I'm pretty sure you were strongly in favor of that, weren't you?

Decent people don't shit on the sidewalk, whether they have a place to live or not. People who shit on the street aren't going to behave decently, whether you give them a house or not.

Do NOT try to BS us that people are shitting on the sidewalk only because the government hasn't shelled out for an apartment, and if it did, they'll straighten right up and be indistinguishable from your average bank manager.

I have worked with a program that specifically identifies sidewalk shitters for the express purpose of getting them disability and getting them into housing.

So if you have friends who are sidewalk shitters, let them know. It's called the GA (General Assistance) program.

typically, sidewalk shitters (and antifa in general) consist of *educators*, their students..and kids who have grown up being cared for by the state.

Yes they do. They may not pay federal income tax, but they pay taxes.

Most of the homeless here are vets, people hooked on drugs, or booze, they prefer their lifestyle,

then others are those who lost a home in the 2008 housing bust, or due to medical bills, or fell on hard luck, gambling, etc, and these people, most of them want help.

If my husband had cancer, I would go for broke getting him treatment, and have to live in a hud apt. With Trump and the end of the ACA, we face that reality again. Just like before the ACA.

Be assured this is real. Vets who suffer PTSD are the ones who could not stand to kill or be in war, the others join militias, they love to fight and spend every cent on guns, and live in the country in shabby trailers.

It generally believed that people need food, water and shelter to survive. Since the Right to Life is listed in the declaration of independence as an inalienable right, anyone who believes in inalienable rights would agree that housing is inherently a right.

Okay, in the same sense that you have a right to life (aka you cannot be deprived of it by the government without due process of law), sure. In the sense that someone else must provide it for you? No.

I don't expect the anyone else to provide it for you other than the government. But we've had federal housing projects for many years now, so this is a rather moot discussion.

America has provided opportunities for free housing since America's very inception. Funny how folks who rant on about the founders and the original meanings of the Amendments yet ignore America's history when it is convenient for making partisan talking points or offering partisan opinions. Poor people and especially immigrants were given free land in the form of 40 or even 160-acre lots, usually covered with timber and stones suitable for building a house or cabin. America was settled from the original 13 colonies to the west for over a hundred years with free land giveaways.

When the slaves were freed they were even promised 40 acres and a mule. Most never got it though. Lincoln's successor Andrew Johnson overturned General Sherman's order.

During that period, farming lots were available from many railways, especially the transcontinental railroad, trying to settle farmers along with their newly opened routes. Those were lands given to the railroads by the US government. Also, the Oklahoma land rushes came along in 1889 and the biggest one of four in 1893.

"Other than the government"? Okay, so you don't expect "anyone else" to provide it; you expect EVERYONE else to provide it.

Doing something for years doesn't make it any more correct. Nor does it magically make it a "right".

Well not to mention during the time of manifest destiny, people could just put a stake on a piece of land, pay to register it, and it was their's.

Yup, I expect everyone to provide it.

Perhaps if the private sector would provide 100% employment with decent wages and benefits this would not be an issue.

Trump supporters always attacking the weakest people in our society all while the rich commit white collar crimes they don't care about that cost our country 1 million times more money than the poor people ever could.

Hahahahahaha
Yeah that's it.

Yep it is. You ignore it and focus on poor people as the problem. That's why you don't see it.

If I posted a thread showing how a millionaire cheated on their taxes to save their self millions of dollars but it was against the law, you Trump supporters would just say he shouldn't have to pay taxes in the first place.

If a poor person fudged their income by $25 a month in order to get healthcare you'd want them thrown under the jail.
Liar.

The thing you clowns consistently get wrong is that we demand wrongdoers get punished regardless of economic status.

Be sure if you reply you are talking about laws, not things you think are wrong according to your emotional stability.

Great, I have a pup-tent that's no longer being used, should I send it to you or will you be picking it up?

Liar? It ALWAYS happens. Please point to one thread where a Trump supporter has demand justice be served against a rich person who committed white collar crime... that isn't a Democrat.

We ALWAYS demand justice for real crimes committed, regardless of economic or social status.

The key here is a breading of a law. Not some outrage that triggers a progressive.
