How the Jesus Myth was created

A lot of the Jesus myth was a pretty good tale, but they went overboard when it came to the virgin birth. My understanding is that the Aramaic word that was translated to "Virgin" actually only meant "unmarried maiden".

/shrugs......another lying paste from an atheistsRus website.......some idiots will believe anything as long as its posted on an atheistsRus website.....

I/We agree 100% with those websites. Why should we take the time to write it out over and over and over when we have a great site where all our thoughts/beliefs are laid out for us to just cut and paste.

perhaps because the stuff you paste has been proven false time and time again and you just don't seem to care.....or do you still think Krishna had a virgin birth despite his seven older brothers?......

were constructed by unknown authors up to a century after the events they describe are said to have occurred.

here's another one you've pasted at least four times.....none of the books of the Bible were written a century after Christ's crucifixion.....not even the most virulent atheist idiot claims that to be true......is this another thing you believe despite evidence?......

The motivation for belief in a divine, salvational Jesus breaks down when you accept evolution:

lol....I would love to see the logical argument you make to reach that idiotic conclusion.....we don't need Jesus because blue winged butterflies evolved from orange winged butterflies......brillig!.....

What atheist "myth" are you babbling about?

What religious myth places your gawds above the other gawds your gawds were fashioned after?

sorry Hollie.....apparently this is just one more argument that's gone beyond your ability to comprehend.....

Until we understand something we “do not know”. Positing a ‘god’ in place of admitting personal ignorance is an unfounded leap which demonstrates a fundamental lack of humility.

The existence and non-existence of a god are not equally probable outcomes. The majority of things we can possibly imagine do not exist. Thus, belief is not as valid a position as skepticism when dealing with unsupported or unfalsifiable claims. Agnostic atheism is the most rational position.

so, in denying God's existence you are merely admitting personal ignorance?......yeah, I can see where that works......

So… let's look at this from another perspective. When people say they believe in an entity that cannot be seen, cannot be felt, exists outside of the natural realm in an asserted supernatural realm, that has attributes we need to worship but cannot understand or even describe, who lives in eternity in both directions, who can create existence from nothing and is uncreated himself and uses methods and means we can never know or hope to understand, that stands outside proof which is exactly why it's for certain he exists-- I would say you thumpers need to examine your comments regarding rationality.

and I would say that for someone to argue it is irrational to believe something without proof and then to claim "there is no god" is a a rational conclusion, they are demonstrating the ultimate in the irrational.......

That's why most atheists say Agnostic Atheism is the most rational position to have. We don't know what is on the other side of black holes but the fact is my friend, neither do you guys. To say you know a god is on the other side makes you crazy. We understand the chances of there being a god are slim to nill. He has never talked to anyone, miracles don't happen and every religion on earth is made up by man. So without any proof of a god, the most rational position to have is there probably isn't a god but we will remain open to the possibility if any proof is ever given.

There is no evidence to support any of the claims made in the Bible concerning the existence of a god. Any ‘evidence’ proposed by theists to support the Bible’s various historical and supernatural claims is non-existent at best, manufactured at worst.

The Bible is historically inaccurate, factually incorrect, inconsistent and contradictory. It was artificially constructed by a group of men in antiquity and is poorly translated, heavily altered and selectively interpreted. Entire sections of the text have been redacted over time.

There is no contemporary evidence for Jesus’ existence or the Bible’s account of his life; no artefacts, dwellings, works of carpentry, self-written manuscripts, court records, eyewitness testimony, official diaries, birth records, reflections on his significance or written disputes about his teachings. Nothing survives from the time in which he is said to have lived.

All historical references to Jesus derive from hearsay accounts written decades or centuries after his supposed death.

So since every religion are made up fairy tales, what other "EVIDENCE" do you have besides those lies? None?

The existence and non-existence of a god are not equally probable outcomes. The majority of things we can possibly imagine do not exist. Thus, belief is not as valid a position as skepticism when dealing with unsupported or unfalsifiable claims. Agnostic atheism is the most rational position.

/grins....agnostic atheism......capitalistic communism......prolife abortionist.....so apparently the new rationality is to cover all the bases......

I've always found the similarities between Hercules, Jesus, and Superman.

All demigods with mortal parents, sent down from the Heavens to save us.

All demigods with mortal parents, sent down from the Heavens to save us.

Hercules was the son of Zeus and he wasn't sent anywhere to do anything.....Jesus was God incarnate who came to save us.....Superman was the son of two mortals who's planet was blowing up and was sent away to save himself, not us......

And here after more than 2000 years Christianity is still around and the non believers are still trying to bring it down.

Just saying. :D

Study the history of religion douche bag. In the years following Jesus' death either christians were killing any non christians, jews were killing christians or muslims were killing anyone who wasn't muslims. It wasn't until the 1800's where you could question religion without being tarred and feathered or crucified yourself.

After the enlightenment period, the number of atheists has grown and is growing more and more every year thanks to the internet and free speech.

I think the best book to convert people to atheism is the bible. Want to see religion is all made up? Just read the bible. But read it with an open mind. Don't be afraid if you don't believe you will go to hell. That's just what a cult would say.

The point is Jesus isn't the first virgin birth. If it isn't true that Chrishna was born of a chaste virgin called Devaki, Who on account of her purity was selected to become the mother of God, also

Buddha was considered and believed by his followers to have been begotten of God and born of a virgin whose name was Maya. Long before the Christian era, we read of how the divine power called the” Holy Ghost” descended upon virgin Maya. In ancient Chinese version of the story, the holy ghost is called Shing-Shin.

The Siamese (Taiwan), had a God and saviour who was Virgin Born whom they called Codom. In this very ancient story, the beautiful Virgin had been informed in advance that she was to become the mother of a great messenger of God, and one day while in her usual period of meditation and prayer, she was impregnated by divine sun beams. When the boy was born, he grew up in a remarkable manner, became a protégé of wisdom and performed miracles.

When the first Jesuit priest visited china, they wrote in their reports at finding a heathen religion of that country, of a story of a redeeming saviour who was born of a Virgin and divinely conceived. The God was said to have been born 3468 B.C (before Christ), his name was Lao-Tsze and was said to have been born of a virgin black in complexion and as beautiful as a Jasper.

In Egypt, long before the Christian era, and before any of its doctrine was conceived, the Egyptian people had several messengers of God, who were conceived through Immaculate Conception. Horus was known to all of ancient Egypt as having been born of the virgin Isis and his conception and birth was considered one of the three great mysteries or mystical doctrines of the Egyptian religion. To then every incident in connection with the conception and birth of Horus was pictured, sculptured, adored and worshiped as the incidents of the conception and birth of Jesus is among the Christians today. Another Egyptian God called Ra was also conceived by a Virgin.

You know, I never thought of it before, but nobody has ever seen Superman and Jesus together.

Darwin, did not set out to undermine the grand narrative of Christianity, but his theory of evolution through natural selection led to conclusions that were diametrically opposite to those that Christians traditionally believed and proclaimed. The research carried out under the paradigm of evolution brought to light that Augustine’s convictions on 'original sin' and death could no longer be held. So, a change in traditional theology is a prerequisite for any meaningful dialogue between religion and science.

the authoritative Catechism of the Catholic Church "explicitly acknowledges that the account of the fall in Genesis 2 and 3 uses figurative language".

Keep in mind today only 3 out of 10 christians take the bible literally. So at least people understand that today. Tomorrow they'll realize that their entire religion start and ends with lies. So if Adam and Eve are figurative not literal, what other impossible stories told in the bible are just made up? Maybe the whole thing is made up. That's what I think.

First of all, Americans took a poll and atheists were the least trusted. Americans would rather vote for a cheating pot smoker than an atheist. So forgive us if we are a little angry you retards are so stupid/brainwashed and yet iti is us who can't be POTUS.

What is required to be POTUS? The belief that a cosmic Jewish zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree.”

Or at least the bare minimum you have to be is a MORMON??? [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=06jF1EG8o-Q]South Park Tells About the Foundation of Mormonism and Joseph Smith - YouTube[/ame]

Seriously? You guys fucking voted for a guy who believes that story? A guy with magic underwear? And you wonder why we are angry?

Being an atheist is like being the only sober person in the car – and no one will let you drive.

How the Jesus Myth was created

How the Jesus Myth was created

First of all, you have to realize that Jesus was a composite of different entities and the name was chosen several hundred years later at the Council of Nicea, wherein the entity Constantine ordered the various religious sects to come together and create a single religion for Rome, a Universal religion that incorporated all of the aspects of the various religions, so that all could accept and subscribe to it.

The Influence of Apollonius of Tyana
(Read also about Apollonius of Tyana, the Real Christ? The invented story of Jesus)

This entity Apollonius of Tyana is the central figure of a certain religious order that was prevalent at that time in Rome and his life was incorporated into the Holy Roman religion or Catholic version of the Christian epic which became the official Roman religion in approximately 300 AD.

This Awareness indicates that this energy of Apollonius was incorporated, there was also energies of several other spiritual leaders of Roman religious sects whose stories were also brought in and there were those spiritual personalities or deities from other Roman religious orders whose histories or religious myths came from other cultures.

Krishna for example, of India, was one of the religious cults and groups in Rome, and his story was merged with that of Apollonius of Tyana. The story of Krishna as that entity who came into the earth born of a virgin and who attempted to save people from error and sin, but who was hanged for his efforts.

This Awareness indicates that this was incorporated in the story of Jesus and the Apollonius story was also part of this story, and there were also entities whose religion was that of sun worshipping, wherein there was the sun and the 12 houses or signs, and these sun worshippers had their story of Jesus in which the sun god had 12 disciples and these 12 disciples of course reflected the 12 signs of those who were the sun worshippers in Rome. This was of course an astrological religion.

The composite known as Jesus

This Awareness indicates that the combination of the many different Roman religious orders or organizations, the different religious sects, forming a composite in which the central heroic character was the Son of God, having 12 disciples, being born of a virgin, whose intent and purpose was to help save mankind, and for his efforts, the entity was slain and put upon a cross; the entity also having certain miraculous powers, including that of those who can heal by touch, or raise from the dead or move into states of suspended animation, such as some of the masters of India have demonstrated in various times throughout history.

Great read for all who want to better understand Christianity and their beliefs.

Which Jesus myth? The Mormon's have a completely different story. Do you know it? Google dumb dumb dumb mormons southpark and watch the story of the Mormons. And Republicans/christians/conservatives/Americans voted for that but they wouldn't vote for a person who doesn't believe in a god? THEN FUCK YOU AMERICANS. Wise up. No wonder the rich control you like puppets.

What lies?

the ones you've linked to from time to time....I've pointed them out as they showed up, no reason to pretend you don't know......

Example? Even one? PWitty Pweeze?

you just gave one...

Krishna with his seven older brothers and Horus (who's mother impregnated herself with a dildo made from her dead husband's penis) we've already covered....

A search of Google reveals two things about "Codom".....dozens of atheistsRus websites claiming he had a virgin birth (and using the same words you cut and pasted here) and one reference to a document dating to 1677 AD which said Codom was the
Siamese word for Buddha.....

http://www.life-alonguniversity.com/buddhabirthplace/pdf/budhasumeng.pdf

as for LaoTzi
Taoist myths state that Laozi was conceived when his mother gazed upon a falling star. He supposedly remained in her womb for 62 years before being born while his mother was leaning against a plum tree. (The Chinese surname Li shares its character with "plum".) Laozi was said to have emerged as a grown man with a full grey beard and long earlobes, both symbols of wisdom and long life.[33][34] Other myths claim that he was reborn 13 times after his first life during the days of Fuxi. In his last incarnation as Laozi, he lived nine hundred and ninety years and spent his life traveling to reveal the Tao.[32]

omigorsh, just like the nativity!......lol....

I asked how you came to a logical conclusion that accepting scientific evidence for evolution destroys belief in a saving Jesus Christ.....do you believe the above accomplishes that?....I do not.....even if you pretend that there IS scientific evidence that humans evolved from a single celled organism, there would have to be a first man and a first woman that were human....

The virgin birth idea didn't begin with Jesus. Occurs in several religions predating Christianity.

There Are Many Other Virgin Births Besides Jesus. - Religion - Nairaland

Once you realize this, Christianity really crumbles to dust. If none of its' central figure's life is even original, how can it be true?
