If we're to believe guns should be banned

What if only the semiautomatic rifles got banned that spray dozens of bullets per minute, like the AR 556 Kelley used?

Well ... If we are going to be talking compromise ... What are you willing to compromise ... :dunno:
We know what it is you want ... What do we get from you in return?

Abortion, marriage and a plethora of other things are really none of the federal government's business.
I won't trade one attempt of the federal government to overstep its bounds for another.

Government's main function is property (fields, cows, state lines, money, ownership, debt… etc)

Marriage has always been about Property. (wife was property up until the 1800s)

Thus Government must be involved. (house, cars, stocks, kids… all property with rights…)

Re: Abortion. Late-2nd and 3rd trimester, government has a limited interest in protecting VIABLE fetus. (see Roe v. Wade)

Which of the 18 powers the Constitution grants the federal government gives them the power to govern marriage?

ITS a people problem folks, its not the hunter, skeet shooter, range user, its the un experienced, untrained, with no respect for guns, there lethal in the hands of no nothings a few trips to a gun range makes you a rank beginner. & you need to keep your guns locked up, not in your purse or your front seat. add up all the deaths not by gangs nor hunters, but by idiots. they total in the hundreds.

I assume you're changing the subject as with marriage I was obviously talking about state and local government responsibilities to govern over property rights and disputes…

anyway…. re: Federal court

The Supremacy Clause is a clause within Article VI of the U.S. Constitution which dictates that federal law is the "supreme law of the land." This means that judges in every state must follow the Constitution, laws, and treaties of the federal government in matters which are directly or indirectly within the government's control. Under the doctrine of preemption, which is based on the Supremacy Clause, federal law preempts state law, even when the laws conflict. Thus, a federal court may require a state to stop certain behavior it believes interferes with, or is in conflict with, federal law.

For example - gay marriage bans, sodomy laws, abortion bans...

But in the absence of federal law, or when a state law would provide more protections for consumers, employees, and other residents than what is available under existing federal law, state law holds.

Straw man!

No one's talking about banning guns. We're talking about limiting access to guns for certain people.

These incident are very unfortunate. But if anyone thinks for one second that any Individual should relinquish his or her own Individual rights in order to appease someone elses feelings, you're mistaken. And delusional. Respectfully.

How do universal background checks "relinquish his or her own Individual rights"?

Let's not interfere with God's will.

Dumbass, it's God's free will he gave to us.

That was fucking stupid

They hear limit and they're conditioned to scream back: "shall not infringe… know what that means?!!!!"

And I would say to them, yeah...an "infringement" means you wouldn't get the gun. But you would if you passed the background check. So it's only an infringement if you can't pass a background check. And if you can't pass a background check, (say it with me) then you shouldn't get a gun.

The background check is a violation of the First Amendment, because it compels people to speak and provide information about themselves. Additionally, the background check could be seen as a violation of the right against self-incrimination under the Fifth Amendment because you have to provide evidence against yourself in order to require a gun. Furthermore, a violation of the Tenth Amendment, because the requirement to provide this information is not something that is explicitly stated as a power of the federal government in the US constitution.

Anything else?

Which won't happen in the foreseeable future, doesn't it make sense to ban gun violence from entertainment, from games to music to TV and some media?

To me its a logical flow. Take the latest Church slaughter, wholly shit BTW, what a freak. Our govt. let us down on this one. Anyway, worse things than rifles can be used, and they'd be as or more effective, agree? It's just that guns are most convenient, and to a freak, they're probably the most "fun" too. After all, they've seen it on TV, read about the affects 24/7, and games are probably worse.

On a side, imagine if guns were banned. The culprit could obtain one illegally, and cool cat NRA instructor wouldn't have been able to fire a cap in his ass.

You're right--a lot of the violence in entertainment is way over the top and it should be censored. Kids' cartoons have gotten so sacharine sweet I can't bear to watch them for five minutes yet Grand Theft Auto was one of the most popular video games out there for awhile. I don't even go to the movies anymore, but guns and violence are dripping from everything--including prime time tv. So yeah. It doesn't have to be too sweet to swallow, but a little taste and a lot less mass media mayhem wouldn't hurt anything.

Old Lady, AR15. You ever see Jaws? If you pay attention you will notice allot of M1 Garands . Those were used in WW2 and Korea and about a bunch of third world shit box countries. They were for their time the tacticool militarey rifles of the day. 8 rounds for those and no detachable magazine. Before that it would have been old WW1 and early WW2 bolt action Springfield’s. Same for them. Same for the AR. It’s military wheel. For most it’s a fad. They look awesome with their flat dark earth ball caps with their magpul t-shirt, voodoo tactical pants and sleeved out arms and a huge beard that makes them look like they been in the ‘stan. For others the AR like the M1’s and 03A3’s are tough as hell, cheap to buy cheap to shoot and just plan fun. I think people should monitor their children’s entertainment content, but trying to mess with peoples movies and music is as bad as trying to take their guns.

Well, it's a gosh darned good thing what you say doesn't over-ride the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, now isn't it? lolol.
