Shoot me for complicating the issue, but we don't demonize the ordinary soldier who fought in Vietnam or the Iraq war just because it's quite clear those wars were disastrous mistakes. The Confederate soldier?

Hate the war, but not (necessarily) the warrior. No, of course there is no good way to separate the Confederate flag from the Confederate soldier. This is just one of those times in history where there is no easy answer,

and almost everyone on either side is a little bit right and a little bit wrong.
