If covid is being passed around by vaxxed people...and there are three times more vaxxed people...well... the variables and equations are beyond my math level and probably most on this board...but 10 days to four days is entirely too simplistic.

Vaxxed people spreading it solely to each other will keep the virus in the workplace indefinitely if they aren't socially distancing and wearing masks.

And if they are socially distancing and wearing masks to keep the virus from spreading, the unvaxxed pose no more threat than the vaxxed do.

Certainly no reason to fire an unvaxxed person.

The reason to fire an unvaxxed person, i can see two reasons if they are working in-person with customers.
First is they are spreading for 10 days, which is 3x longer than vax'd person.

Second (i'm speculating here) is just the healthcare costs to the company. The insurance provider probably dings the company for allowing unvax'd on their staff who work in close proximity to other people, raising risks for health insurance provider.

A private company can hire or fire a person for any reason they desire, as long as its not discrimination for race/religion/gender-orientation type stuff.

Okay, let's look at that. Smokers get higher premiums and they aren't allowed to smoke in the workplace anymore because of the potential of second hand smoke to harm others.

Come to work drunk, you'll get fired. You'll probably also get fired if your drinking is so bad you are frequently late, etc.

To the point, we aren't mandating vaccinations to protect the invidual as much as the collective. The goal here is herd immunity. It's not the one asshole who refuses to get vaccinated, it's the people who did who still might catch Covid because their immunity wasn't strong enough.

One case of Covid is enough to get an entire workplace shut down for disinfecting. That usually means everyone is stuck going home.
