I don't think the Republicans dodged it as much as they just allowed it to bounce off of their chest.

I mean, setting aside the subjective ideas of what's right and what's wrong and morality and austerity and looking at it from a purely strategic viewpoint, the GOP is getting more galvanized every day. So many Democrats are howling in outrage right now at the easily-targeted Manchin and Sinema, happily encouraged by the drama-loving media, but what is often overlooked is that not one Republican is willing to even entertain the idea of crossing that line, even though they could demand and receive just about any concession that the Democrats would offer.

If the Democrats didn't spend so much time and energy criticizing each other, maybe they'd get something passed beyond a *deep yawn* infrastructure bill.
