Let's unpack some of the right wing's delusion and dishonesty. Is universal healthcare socialism?

I have no problem saying socialized medicine is socialist and so are the Scandanavian countries.

What now?

That's fine. Thank you for being consistent. Those nations disagree with your assessment. Your thoughts?
Those nations do not disagree with me. The Prime Minster of Denmark is a Social Democrat supported by a coalition of Social Liberals, the Socialist People's Party, the Red-Green Alliance, and the Social Democratic party.

The Prime Minister of Sweden is a member of the Social Democratic party.

You'll often see conservatives argue that any social program is socialism and then in the next breath they'll say the Scandinavian countries are capitalist and not socialist when people point to how well they do over there. Well they have universal healthcare and very expansive social safety nets. Are those things socialism or not in your world view? You hypocrites can't have your cake and eat it too. Either the Scandinavian countries are socialist in your view or things like universal healthcare are not actually socialism. There are no Democrats arguing for the government to completely take over the private sector. They want universal healthcare and government funded universities like in the Scandinavian nations. At least get your shit straight and make a consistent argument.

I have something you can unpack, Sparkles.

I don't dignify these sorts of "Assume that all conservatives think THIS, so that I can argue against it" crap from manifest cowards, and I encourage every other conservative on the board to give you the same lack of respect until such time as you grow a pair and venture out to debate ACTUAL conservatives and their ACTUAL words.

Maybe you can sort it out with the Republicans that argue that they're not actually socialists. There's a lot of confusion and bullshit with labels I think. "Socialism" can mean a lot of different things depending on who is using it and in what context. I think a lot of conservatives pervert the context to make dishonest arguments.

If you're one of the ones with consistent views then well done. I don't think all conservatives are the same.

Socialized medicine is socialism. No ifs, ands, or buts.

And it is inevitable that the US will have UHC in our lifetimes because the opposition has never once offered an alternative to reverse the costs of health care which have been skyrocketing for many decades.

The Right bitches and they moan and they make up socialist horror stories about UHC, all in a vain attempt to conceal their impotence at coming up with something better.

Scandinavian countries restrict who can live in Scandinavian countries.

So do you want to have an immigration debate or will you actually address what's being discussed in the OP?

As if your OP is an invitation to an actual debate, rather than an attempt by you to demand that we defend what YOU have decided we all think.

I have yet to see you prove that you can speak for yourself, let alone prove that you're qualified to speak for me. You want to discuss my conservative positions regarding socialism or healthcare or anything else? Then you ASK me what I think, you don't TELL me what I think.

I'm fine with you deciding my OP is bullshit and going away.

All the pseudocons have to do to defeat socialized medicine is show us something better.

Hmmmmm...

If you want to shut the lefties up once and for all, if you really want to smack them down for good, if you want to wipe that smug look off their faces, SHOW US A BETTER SOLUTION!

The pseudocons can't do it. And they never will. All they can do is bitch and moan like the intellectually impotent lazy fucks they are who can't do any heavy lifting.

So UHC here we come!

If you're not one of the conservatives that views things the way I've described then this thread does not really apply to you unless you want to help me walk them out of their inconsistency.

Par for the course.

Please...

Saying my OP is the same quality as "I'll smack the shit out of you." is just nonsense and you know it.

No, your OP is good and I'd like to see the wingnuts actually do something with it other than run for the cracks in the floor like roaches.

Par for the course is in reference to the responses you are getting. This is about what the wingnuts at USMB have become.

It depends on who pays for the universal health care. If everyone pays for their own health insurance, it's not socialism, but if it's a single payer, government funded system it is socialism, even if the doctors and hospitals are privately owned.

My apologies HappyJoy. I appreciate that.

The foundation of your OP is flawed.

It is indeed part-and-parcel of socialism. The very essence of it radiates outward of the family, extended family, close friends, small tribes and people who have a close relationship in at least an ethnic sense or a common sense of nation. It falls apart in states where there is little uniformity, especially where identity politics has become the norm. This largess may work in smaller and homogeneous states, but is invariably a disaster in place where people cannot identify with each other.

YOU are the hypocrite
....you can't compare Scandinavian countries with the US for many reasons--end of story

To answer the OP. I believe Scandinavia is a capitalist country with a strong social safety net. We could call that portion socialist, I really don't care I don't think you can have one without the other. If one of them is missing the other is extreme.

Your turn at bat.

You ignored the point made in the OP. Address that and I'll address your deflection.

There was no point made in the OP. For you to make a point, you would first have to have something real to make a point about, rather than just trying to project your own internal drama onto us.

And you sure as shit don't get to make demands of anyone to "address" your little script you want us to read. That's aside from the incredible gall it takes to get your panties ruffled at someone for "deflection" in a thread that exists so you can deflect from having to answer REAL people and their REAL arguments.
