LeVar Burton wants you to read banned books

You state that I want to be the one in control of the bans. And you do not ask, you state it as if you actually know. It is a lie.
You're confused...
Porn does not belong in public libraries.

Mmmm

Tell me.

Without dodging this time, if you could put ALL the books removed by the ban back, would you?

YES or NO

(Pro tip. "Yes" means you support the book ban in place.)

your dodge will be noted.

I am not dodging anything. I simply refuse to play your game of narrowing the parameters by claiming it is all or nothing. It isn't all or nothing.

Your refusal to accept that every book be judged on it's own merits is noted.

So you are for banning books.

/thread

Jeez, again? I am for the removal of porn. I am also in favor of every book being judged on its own merits. Banning porn, which is illegal for children to have, is one thing. Banning books because of some bad words, is another.

Taking them out of libraries effectively bans them for many kids.

I would prefer they send out a list of books in their library that they find objectionable, and then let the parents decide when their children read.
How many?

The funny thing about libraries is they offer free internet access and all the books that are not carried in the library can still be read for free on the web.

Besides no library has ever carried every book ever printed and by your reasoning that would mean most books ever printed can be considered banned.

If books were actually banned no one could read them
In theory, yes. In practicality, no.

Case in point: The atheistic nations of the 20th century banned religion but it did not stop people from practicing it. It only made them hide their practice.

Now do you understand?

So you think people in the US have to hide to read these so called banned books?

If those people you say had religions banned were caught practicing what would have happened?

What will happen to anyone caught in this country reading a "banned " book?

I can't explain it any better than I already did. What you are talking about has absolutely nothing to do with the difference between the theory of something and the practice of it.

Of course it does

If anyone can reads any book as they can in this country with absolutely no legal consequences then there are no banned books.

The government is not obligated to provide anyone with books to read for free.

If you want to look like an idiot for arguing banning books doesn't prevent people from reading banned books, be my guest.

A county school board banned Tolstoy's Anna Karenina. Not exactly kiddie porn.

And commie Santa Cruz, CA. crypto-fascists banned Grapes Of Wrath from its school reading lists for 'racial references'. Sure you want to play that game here? There are people here who made it all the way through high school before grade inflation and 'social promotion' became all the rage in schools, so you won't get far with that.
