A few years ago, I was walking in a nice quiet neighborhood.

I saw a man crossing the street.

A car suddenly appeared and refused to stop for him.

He fortunately jumped back in time and screamed at the driver, "Are you crazy?" The driver took off.

As the man passed me, he looked back at the scene of the near accident and said loud enough for me to hear the N-word.

I live in liberal Los Angeles.

I am guessing that the man was later very remorseful.
