The pseudo-cons have whined and whined and whined and whined for EIGHT YEARS that we coulda/shoulda/woulda won if we had just picked a conservative candidate instead of a moderate.

But, boy oh boy, they ran the SEVERAL conservative candidates out of town on a rail this time. They flat out rejected them, tarred them, doused them in gasoline, and burned them to a crisp.

Remember all the happy joyous noises they made about a Carson presidency? Remember when Dr. Carson bitch-slapped Barack Obama with the mighty hand of God at the National Prayer Breakfast?

Remember how Scott Walker was the conservative champion who kicked the liberals asses in THREE elections in a row?

Remember how Mike Huckabee kissed and hugged Kim Davis as the nation's pseudo-cons got a stiffy?

And then...and then one day a billionaire descends from heaven on a golden escalator and calls Mexicans a bunch of rapists and says we need to ban Muslims, and suddenly all those other guys just PALED in comparison to this close personal friend of the Clintons! They just can't hold a candle to this pro abortion, pro gun ban, pro single payer healthcare hero!

And I'm going to tax the One Percenters more, too!

And today the presumptive nominee is campaigning against all the economic tent pole issues Conservatives have championed.

All this begs the obvious question: do Conservatives have any idea what their values are? Do Conservatives have any political clout at all? Is there a viable Conservative movement? Should Conservatives be taken seriously?

An honest assessment of the series of events that led to where we are would be in order.

Trump rose to the top early on for a few reasons. First and foremost is because he was the most vocal expressing the nation’s anger about the D.C. establishment, the do-nothing republican congress, the cover up media, et al. His celebrity status helped as well, yes. But then in a field of 17 candidates, if 14 are saying the same thing as conservatives they are clearly not going to get that much support when it has to be cut 14 ways. Just like Fox News is always the ratings winner because liberals are split amongst the five left leaning networks.

So that made it very easy for Trump to look far more popular. Perhaps if the field started out with just Walker, Huckabee and Trump things would be different as to how voters voted. But the process left us really no choice. And Cruz and Rubio had too many issues of their own for their conservative dialog to carry them.

Conservatives have maintained that ideological purity was the absolute standard. They primaried out many incumbents because they were considered RINOs. And today Trump shows little ideological purity at all.
