I was listing to FOX business yesterday and evidently there's some legislation either pending or being thought of to hold those owners (like Zukerberg of Meta) not to be responsible for the harm that their platforms do.

They came at it from a stock value sense.

A publisher controls content and is responsible for it.

A platform is just a medium for publishers.

But in this case the Government stepped in and asked the platform to become a publisher....the same Government that gave the platform the protection of being a platform instead of publisher. Without that protection the platform will have an avalanche of lawsuits for their wealth.

And still, I remember seeing thousands of posts on Facebook rife with disinformation and flat out lies about the pandemic. They may have pressured them.....but it looks like Zuck pretty much ignored them.
The First Amendment doesn't cover lies. The courts have already made rulings that the right to free speech doesn't extend to "say or do whatever you want". There are limits.
