In what seems like bracing to allow the conversation to continue in any eventuality of a Decision by SCOTUS, Michigan recognizing LGBT legally as behaviors and not a static class, allows adoption agents to essentially screen prospective couples for the presence of both a mother and a father before adopting children to them.

The logic is sound. The majority of people and many LGBTs themselves believe that children have an intrinsic and inaliable right to both a mother and a father in marriage. And in fact, states only get involved in marriage to incentivize both a mother and a father in marriage for the best benefit of kids.

Michigan is funding them and allowing them to insist on a mother and father when couples apply. Actually homosexuals are stepping up to take on the responsibility of parenthood that the biological parents of children gave up when the biological parents abandoned their children.

This is another one of those issues that conservatives are just going to lose. As their bigotry is contradicted by all the caring gay and lesbian parents out there.

There are things that are wrong because they cause actual harm. Murder, theft, rape etc. And things that are wrong because we say they are. Bacon cheeseburgers. Working on Sunday. Homosexuality.

Increasing folks aren't buying the 'because we say so' standard of something being wrong. And folks can see the time, the care, the concern, the commitment of gay and lesbian parents. And weighting it against claims like 'Homos have now resorted to adoption as a way to acquire new victims.'

With the weight of what people can see falling firmly on the former. Not the latter. If anything, the kind of hateful vitriol in the face of obvious care and concern for children by gays and lesbians is only speeding the process of the abandonment of old bigotries.

• More than 16,000 adopted children are living with lesbian and gay parents in California, the highest number among the states.
• Gay and lesbian parents are raising four percent of all adopted children in the United States.
• Adopted children with same-sex parents are younger and more likely to be foreign born.

In addition, adoption is legal is 49 states. Generally, acceptance of gay and lesbian adoption has been way out in front of same sex marriage. In some states, it has been occurring for decades.

Given these numbers, please answer the following questions:

1. If children who are in the care of gay people are at risk of abuse or having developmental/ adjustment issues why have the states been allowing this for so long?
   
   
2. If mistreatment of children by gays was prevalent, why are we not hearing horror stories and seeing headlines about this on a regular basis ?
   
   
3. Why have we not been seeing large numbers of adults who had been children of gays coming forward to speak out against gay parenting?

Both sides should avoid name-calling. Just the facts ma'am. And those facts are that gays cannot provide children with both a mother and a father. That's the thing adoption agencies are concerned with when couples apply...that and the evidence in my signature for a cult that seems to be very little concerned about the welfare of children. Children, in case this may have escaped you, are the topic of this thread.
