Bush didn't deregulate the banks. They were regulated. The regulations caused the crisis.

No, the reckless actions of bankers caused the crisis. It's like saying a crosswalk caused you to get hit by a car when you played in traffic.

The bankers KNEW that the loans they were writing were bad. They knew the people they were writing them to had no ability to pay them back. They knew these were garbage loans when they sold them as investments.

They did it anyway, because a lot of them were getting rich quick doing so. and they knew the government would bail them out.

But you keep being a "Battered Wife Conservative".

The Junk Bond market collapsed. The Penny Stock (pump and dump) market also collapsed. Bunker Hunt tried to corner the Silver market. Greed has no limit.

And they knew they could because they knew the regulations would protect them. Which they did.

Thank you, regulations, for the financial crisis.

We are not in a financial crisis, yet. If anything is true; history always repeats.

It will be the end of America when the government stops building weapons.

Maybe if we minded our own business and stopped getting involved in other people's problems, we could solve our own.

Just saying.

Not that you'd ever sign up to die for the Oil Companies.

Didn't you vote for Obama?

He is an interventionist President. He fought the war in Iraq for three years, called it a success, escalated the war in Afghanistan, bombed Libya that was no threat to the US and now has troops back in Iraq. He also has troops stationed at about 160 foreign locations.

If you are going to bitch about interventionism don't be a hypocrite and vote for interventionist Commander in Chiefs. It just makes you look like a fool.

That worked real good for Poland in 1939, didn't it?

Poland had overpriced bombers that couldn't fly in the rain?
Poland had bi-planes because they never spent money on new weapons.

As for flying in the rain, it seemed to work well enough for Clinton. He used it to bomb the crap out of Serbia. How would he brag about getting no ground troops involved if some previous Republican presidents decided not to fund the B2?

These Moon Bats always forget that Slick Willy bombed Baghdad for two weeks also.

Uh, no. You see, if you didn't have THOSE regulations, no one would put their money in a bank.

Again- read up on 1929, in case you aren't clear on this. Or the crisis of 1837.

It was the inability of Bush to enforce the other rules that caused the problems.

Actually, the B2 didn't make much of a difference in any campaign. You could accomplish the same thing with 50 year old B-52s... The purpose of the B-2 was to fly stealthily against an enemy that no longer existed.

Yeah, right, because banks didn't exist before the government started regulating them . . . . . . . er, no, that's not right.

Wrong. B-52s can be shot down, and that would have been oh so embarrassing for President Clinton who liked to brag about no casualties in his war against Serbia.

Every military in the world seems to disagree with your theory that stealth isn't important since they are all spending billions of dollars to build or purchase stealth aircraft.

Oh, so now it's his inability to enforce the rules, not abolishing the rules. Which rules was Bush unable to enforce?

Yeah, right, because banks didn't exist before the government started regulating them . . . . . . . er, no, that's not right.

Yes, they existed. And then they'd go broke doing stupid things- see Panic of 1837 or the Great Depression of 1929 - and lose the money of people using them. People put money in their mattresses because they didn't trust the banks.

The banks were regulated, and we had a banking crisis. Thanks, regulation, for the crisis

Regulations don't do any good if you have cronies like Bush had giving them an attaboy.

Obviously, the concept of regulation is something else you didn't learn in Home School, Cleetus.

Regulations don't do any good if you have cronies like Bush had giving them an attaboy.

So are you actually claiming that all of the the regulatory agencies stopped enforcing all of their regulations? Really?

Yeah, I really do think that Bush was lax in enforcing bank regulations. So did everyone who investigated it after the crash

Report: SEC staffers watched porn as economy crashed - CNN.com

As the country was sinking into its worst financial crisis in more than 70 years, Security and Exchange Commission employees and contractors cruised porn sites and viewed sexually explicit pictures using government computers, according to an agency report obtained by CNN.

"During the past five years, the SEC OIG (Office of Inspector General) substantiated that 33 SEC employees and or contractors violated Commission rules and policies, as well as the government-wide Standards of Ethical Conduct, by viewing pornographic, sexually explicit or sexually suggestive images using government computer resources and official time," said a summary of the investigation by the inspector general's office.
