We have very fuel efficient vehicles here in the states, theres no reason to destroy our economy and energy industry that drives that economy. One major forest fire in northern California erases any gains and then some you think we have gained by diving some EV that is powered by a fossil fuel plant somewhere.

So much of our wealth and advancements are due to cheap energy that is readily available.. all of our manufacturing has needed oil.. and the fact that it could be obtained cheaply for manufacturing was crucial. So many of societal gains research have been funded by investment .... investment by people who have money to invest because they were successful. None of that would have ever happened if we were cutting down trees or killing whales for their oil.... now you all hate the oil industry and hate oil companies.
