Obama/Reagan On Jobs, Growth & Investing

I guess you missed this part of the article

Part-time work has made up 77 percent of the job growth so far this year. The government defines part-time work as being less than 35 hours a week.
Except that's not true. Wasn't even true in July. Historical Table A-9

Usually works full time (seasonally adjusted)
January 2014: 117,656,000
August 2014: 118,616,000
Change: +960,000

Usually works part time (seasonally adjusted)
January 2014: 27,540,000
August 2014: 27,743,000
Change: +203,000

You don't even have to do any math to see that part time growth was not 77% of total job growth.

that was actually 2013 but it makes the point

I gotta go to work Unlike some of you people, but any idiot who thinks this economy is doijng well is seriously delusional. incomes are not rising, almost half the jobs created are part time jobs and Obamacare isn't even fully implemented yet, which will make things worst. The black unemployment rate is almost 12%. There is no comparison to the boom of the Reagan economy none..... The very "rich" are doing quite well under Obama. they like the artificially propped up stock market, they make lots of money
That's just awful.

So. What's doing better? The pencils or the apples you are selling?

Part-Time Work Made Up More Than 65 Percent Of New Jobs Created In July

WASHINGTON — The 162,000 jobs the economy added in July were a disappointment. The quality of the jobs was even worse.

A disproportionate number of the added jobs were part-time or low-paying – or both.

Part-time work accounted for more than 65 percent of the positions employers added in July. Low-paying retailers, restaurants and bars supplied more than half July's job gain.

Holyfuckingshit! :eusa_doh:

That was just one month. You're seriously trying to gauge part time employment under Obama based on one month?? Talk about rightarded. :eusa_doh:

The vast majority of jobs created during Obama's presidency have been full time jobs. Your earlier post that almost half were part time jobs was stupid enough, but this post of yours is sheer insanity.

Darn. He just missed that part. Ruined his day, I'll bet.

Now, as to the actual information in the OP, here is a chart that was provided at the link. That chart pretty much says it all:

Unemployment-Reagan-v-Obama.jpg
Only a fool thinks that chart says it all. How many people are underemployed, on disability or dropped out of the job market altogether? Those are important factors to consider, ignoring them is propaganda.
Of course Statistheilhitler is an illiterate masquerading as a buffoon.
Here are two charts that speak volumes: Notice that during Reagan's recovery the participation rate increased. This is because a rising economy encourages people to re enter the workforce. The opposite of Obama.

Only an imbecile would look at those charts and ignore the impact of retiring baby boomers on the latter.
Only an imbecile would pick one talking point and think it explains everything. Then again, look who's posting: Faun, the Fail of USMB.

Stupid people just accept the word of idiots without fact checking for themselves. Had you actually checked BLS's numbers, you would find the real percentage of part time jobs for the year is 21%, not 77%.

Part time jobs for the year increased by 371,000

Total time jobs for the year increased by 1,782,000

371,000 out of 1,782,000 is 20.8%.

That's what you get for referencing a loony site like huffingtonpost.

Oh, and we're still better off now than we were before Obama became president. You want to talk about year to date? In Bush's final year, part time jobs increased by 1,310,000. But full time jobs fell by 5,617,000

Still think we were better off then? :eusa_doh:

If idiot libs didnt cherry pick data, they'd have no data at all.
This country was better off the day Bush left office than any day Obama has been in office.

Here's what an actual study on declining labor force looks like...

Fun to watch Righties squeal over hard numbers. Very, very fun.
When you present "hard numbers" that arent cherry picked we can talk. Meanwhile chew on these hard numbers:
021612jjordan.jpg

The hard numbers?

Over 92M adults "not in the labor force".

Labor Force Participation Rate of 62.8%.

$7T of additional debt.

2% economic growth after a deep recession.

And how about the Progs' favorite issue, Inequality? Obama's policies have made it worse.

Hopenchange!
86 million of those 92 million don't want to work.

And 6M of them do. SIX MILLION PEOPLE who have Given Up because Obamanomics is an Epic Fail.

How do you know they "gave up?" You do realize that number includes 16 year olds who want to start looking for their first job? And of those 6.4 million who said they wanted a job in mid-August 2014, 3.6 million did NOT do anything at all about work between mid-August 2013 and mid-August 2014. Not a single thing that could possibly have resulted in getting a job. Now, some of them are the teenagers or college students...some are people who were unable to work and so didn't look, etc. But overall, all we can really say is that those 3.6 million did not try to work in the last year.

So that leaves us with 2.8 million who looked for work sometime between mid-August 2013 and mid-September 2014 (if they had looked after that they'd be classified as unemployed), 634,000 could not have started work in August if offered a job.

And that takes us down to the 2.1 Marginally Attached. (used in the U-5 measure of underutilization). Most of them, 1.4 million, stopped looking for work due to personal reasons such as school, having to take care of family, lack of transportation, illness or injury, etc.

So we're down to 775,000 Discouraged workers. Huh. A lot less scary than your claim of 6 million.

And while it's true that some of the 3.6 million who did not look in the last year probably stopped due to discouragement, it's nowhere near the 23 million John Williams at Shadowstats claims. Yes...that's right.....of the 3.6 million "Not in the Labor Force, want a job now, did not look in the previous year," Williams claims 23 million of them (639%) should really be classified as discouraged.

That's bogus math. The Government doesn't include people who have totally given up in the Discouraged Worker Category. By your own admission, 6M of the 92 who are no longer in the Labor Force would like jobs. The government disregards them totally. The fact that you are excusing this is Quite Revealing.

That's bogus math. The Government doesn't include people who have totally given up in the Discouraged Worker Category.
Ummm, yes, that's kind of the definition: "Discouraged workers are persons marginally attached to the labor force who did not actively look for work in the prior 4 weeks for reasons such as thinks no work available, could not find work, lacks schooling or training, employer thinks too young or old, and other types of discrimination." How many would be discouraged except they didn't look in the previous year is unknown, but it's certainly not 23 million. Given the ratio of 2-1 of other marginally attached to discouraged, it would probably be around 1 million. If the person no longer wants a job, he wouldn't be discouraged anymore.

By your own admission, 6M of the 92 who are no longer in the Labor Force would like jobs. The government disregards them totally.
Then how did you get the number? Obviously they're not disregarded. They're not unemployed because they're not trying to get a job...which has always been the definition of unemployed.

And again....you're falsely claiming all of them are "no longer in the Labor Force." Many of them were never in the labor force to begin with. A high school student who has never looked for work but says he wants to would be part of that 6 million.

High school students are part of the Labor Force. Why should a young person wanting to earn so money and develop a work ethic be discounted?

But thank you for providing such a blatant display of Progressive Disregard of Individual Lives.

High school students are part of the Labor Force.
Only if they are working or looking for work. That's the definition of the Labor Force.

Why should a young person wanting to earn so money and develop a work ethic be discounted?
They're not. But why should someone who does not want a job be classified as unemployed?

But thank you for providing such a blatant display of Progressive Disregard of Individual Lives.
How on earth does one's classification in the Labor Force Statistics affect anyone's life????

And your own link supports my posiition and refutes yours. There are more older people in the workforce than previously.
Nice work.

Obama, like his Presidential doppleganger -Jimmy Carter, is a failure on every level.

Amazingly, despite Democrats best efforts, Jimmy Carter's Presidency is still remembered for what it was- a total failure on all fronts. Obama will be no different, Even fervent attempts at revisionist history and hagiography will not change things.

Carter did some (laudable) work at Habitat for Humanity.......Maybe Obama can build golf courses for the poor when he gets out?
