You're correct, but were you given a choice to help pay for it or not. If the answer is no, and they didn't have a referendum on the subject then your support as an individual was, by definition, forced.

Everything government does is based on force. Every law on the books is backed up with force. The guns may not be on display at the capital building, but just try not paying your taxes and see what happens.
