What lubricates the bearings and shafts of these "electrical" engines? What produces the bulk electricity world wide?
The use of petroleum products, coal, and natural gas will be in use long after you and I are dust. Get used to it, just as your grandchildren will be used to it well into the 22nd Century.

Did he(obama) or anyone say that we're going to stop using oil for lubricates? NO, he said that we're going phase out refining it into what's called gasoline, lol. :eusa_whistle:

Many people have refused to pay federal taxes, based on the definition of wages not being revenue, and won. I've read that around 10% of the potentially taxable don't pay.

There is choice, if one is ready to accept the consequences.

LEMONT, Ill. — Envisioning cars that can go "coast to coast without using a drop of oil," President Barack Obama on Friday urged Congress to authorize spending $2 billion over the next decade to expand research into electric cars and biofuels to wean automobiles off gasoline.

Obama, expanding on an initiative he addressed in his State of the Union speech last month, said the United States must shift its cars and trucks entirely off oil to avoid perpetual fluctuations in gas prices. Citing policies that already require automakers to increase gas mileage, he said he expects that by the middle of the next decade, Americans will only have to fill up their cars half as often.

"We've set some achievable but ambitious goals," Obama said, speaking at Argonne National Laboratory outside Chicago

"The only way to break this cycle of spiking gas prices – the only way to break that cycle for good – is to shift our cars entirely, our cars and trucks, off oil," the president said.

Friday's speech, with its focus on energy, was designed to draw attention to what the White House says is one of Obama's top agenda items for his second term. That focus, however, has been overshadowed as the administration and Congress work on an immigration overhaul, gun legislation and deficit-reduction measures.

Obama cast his proposal as not only a clean energy plan, but as one meant to create opportunities for economic growth.

I'm for research and development...Let the private sector apply it if this is successful without government.

NO! The only way to stop spiking oil prices is to use the oil/natural gas found in our country and stop importing oil. And the fact is we can do this, and the fact is we should do this, and the fact is we are not doing this. And what exactly does the president's car run on and the presidential plane? This is a do as I want President and not a do as I do President. This President wastes more money taking his pleasure trips and then he closes the White House to visitors. All he needs to do is to stay in the White House along with his wife and kids and quit running around. We would save 100's of thousnds of dollars. Plan for the furture but don't try to change everything today or tomorrow.

He wants cars that ignore the laws of physics? Has he ever heard of friction? Does he want us to start killing sperm whales and use them to make grease for the various parts of the car that rub against each other.

I concur. I think it is time too. There will always be people who will doubt it can be done, but we never let that stop us before. Someone at some point in time is going to have to come up with a car that doesn't use oil because there is not an infinite amount of crude oil. So if we (humans) are going to have to do it anyway, why not be ahead of the curve and develop the first models ourselves? American innovation must lead the way!

Try reading it for yourself, the feds are limited to promoting the sciences and useful arts by providing patents and copyright only. It's very straight forward sentence, even you should be able to understand it. That is the ONLY ENUMERATED POWER on the subject.
