Obamacare is terrible. Most of us understand that. Most understood this before it was passed and the rest are unable to deny it now. But there are a couple silver linings to point out;

1) As unconstiutional as the federal government requiring someone to buy, well, anything is, at least people are starting to see what they're paying for. If there is one mechanism that can change a person's mind about policy it's when that policy hits them in the pocket book. And that's what Obamacare is doing. It doesn't prejudice against Republicans or Democrats, liberals or conserviatives. If you're a relatively young, healthy American, especially on the individual market, you're getting screwed no matter what side of the aisle you're on.

2) Necessity is the mother of invention they say and Obamacare is forcing the free market to finally adapt. To finally do a better job of actually providing service. What there is left of the free market in health care, you are seeing providers refuse to accept insurance all together. Is Obamacare Driving Doctors to Refuse Insurance? - Yahoo Finance It eliminate red tape and overhead allowing to providers more time and resources to provide actual care. We're seeing the invention of new pricing models by providers. On a radio program I heard there were two doctors that both now refuse insurance. One has pricing system where people become members of his clinic for a monthly fee and the can see him as many times as they want. Another adopted a transparent pricing model where he posts on his website what various procedures will cost and ways they can be reasonably financed. I also think the above will start to encourage more private practices rather than providers working under giant medical systems.

As horrible as Obamacare is for people and for the country it is good to see something better come out of it.
