Oh no! Another Tea Partier Running for Congress

Katrina Pierson...Zero objective sources of information.
Health Care Industry...Doing what? For whom?

This isn't school board. U.S. Senator is one of the most important public offices in the nation. Someone just doesn't decide one day, "Hey, I have always wanted to be a U.S. Senator, ever since I got that BA in biology that is."

You may find this difficulty to believe, as I once did, that it is possible that you are somewhat incorrect.

Katrina could have been introduced to an "insider" at a party and that "insider" was so impressed, especially with her "Health Care Industry" "experience", that it was decided she could well indeed be the next talking head.

Well unless Pierson spontaneously drops out and everyone forgets about her the next day we are going to find out a little more about who Pierson is and where she came from. And perhaps just who decided it.

If anyone has any bio on Pierson I would be interested. I did a little looking and turned up nothing, BA biology 2006, founder of some TEA Party organization but that leaves a whole lot of free time unaccounted for. I saw a video where Pierson was a guest on some Fox show. She is very polished for coming out of nowhere. Almost like she is too perfect. I wonder if her instantaneous arrival as a challenger to Sen. Sessions is not a shot across the bow by the TEA Party that Republican Congressmen and women had better toe the line or they will find themselves with a picture perfect rival out of nowhere themselves.

Well, she also has the luxury of having seen what not to do as a TEA party member from Angle and O'Donnell.

Sounds like a Great American story; a story that would be hard to duplicate in many other parts of the world. But yes, I would like to see the bio as well.

Uh, wait a minute. What's going on here? She's what? Black? You gotta be kidding me. And a conservative at that. She's going up against Pete Sessions in Texas and the Dems can't find anyone to stant up to her.

Isn't she part Mexican too?

Black and mexican. Apparently her two most important traits according to all of you? :dunno:

No shit, they can't just be a female Texan.

every time someone is even remotely critical of Obama they are labeled a racist.

^ example of republican victim mentality

So, calling people racist, bigoted, misogynistic or homophobic for expressing opposite views or criticism of Obama isn't an example of a liberal victim mentality?

That statement of yours is an example of liberal hypocrisy.

Time to face facts.

If you follow her twitter feed, you can see some stories about her.
Here is one: Katrina Pierson Defies Every Stereotype - Jefferson Jackson | Jefferson Jackson

They are all going to be flattering of course since it's her feed but also, there are some puzzling pictures on her feed that are really embarrassing IMHO.

Here is an example.

If you count the person who took the picture, the media members equals the number of supporters (if you don't count the candidate). She's up against a long-serving rep...this is what happens when David attacks Goliath. I'm more troubled that there are no endorsements on her twitter feed that I saw. No PD's, no FD's, no CoCs.

From the story; she says that she wouldn't have authorized force in Iraq...she agrees with the President.

This is insane. I don't like Sen. Sessions because I watched him try to dismantle the entire government's safety net without a hint of remorse.

She isn't running against Senator Sessions, dumb ass.

Low information voters are generally Democrats.

There goes my host spot on MSNBC. Fortunately FOX has agreed to let me be anchor for a week. ;) Something in the back of my head told me there was something odd about that match up but somehow party trumped state in my mind, Sen. Sessions being from Alabama and all. I looked up where I got that from and it was (I think they should have put the 'Rep' there all the same):

The Tea Party is weak in Texas: Katrina Pierson is the best the grassroots conservatives can do.
If there’s one test for the Tea Party on the Texas ballot this year, it’s here—it’s Pierson versus Sessions.

It doesn't much melanin anymore to be considered 'black'.

And the right wing will give the left much less fodder if they stop pointing out when a colored person comes out of the closet.

Just another Tea Party Traitor pandering to Texas idiots. God has nothing to do with her being from Texas and real Americans do not threaten a bloody succession battle because a black man is in office and they can't get their way. But that is a winning message in Texas.

A few notable take aways from the video. She said she was from the Welfare side of the tracks. She was a young single mother. At the age of 22 she decided she would go for that American dream and now has two degrees, and a swimming pool in the back yard. I wonder just how much government help she has had along that path. Is she so ready to cut it off for everyone else still on the other side of tracks? So that the next Katrina Pierson will not be standing in front of a mike but some other, less glamorous activity. Ironically she is standing there how wonderful it would be to all but rid of government all the while being the poster child of government programs. She complains that there are not enough jobs, that if people are lucky they can have two jobs that barely make ends meet. She thinks government is the reason for that? If only businesses were allowed a freer rein being overworked and underpaid would suddenly vanish into thin air. She says she, "Will not be bullied into socialism." What she is being is brain washed into being a corporate mouthpiece against her own best interests.

She referenced Jefferson a couple of times. She gave the quote, "It is an axiom in my mind that our liberty can never be safe but in the hands of the people themselves." She did not give the rest of the quote which is, ", and that too of the people with a certain degree of instruction. This it is the business of the state to effect, and on a general plan." She also gave, "When wrongs are pressed because it is believed they will be borne, resistance becomes morality." Here are some other quotes from Jefferson she might use in the future:

  • The legitimate powers of government extend to such acts only as are injurious to others. But it does me no injury for my neighbor to say there are twenty gods, or no God. (Try that one at the national convention.)
  • When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty.
  • The natural progress of things is for liberty to yield and government to gain ground.
  • In every country and every age, the priest has been hostile to Liberty. (She opened her speech with "Thank God I'm a Texan." Not sure how those two coexist.)

Republicans have a perception that democrats are big bullies who treat them unfairly and don't ever let them win. I would consider that a victim mentality.

Should be an interesting race to watch - a real test of the Tea Party's strength in one of the most conservative states in the union.

This is Pierson's five minutes of fame. Two weeks from now she will be "Joe Plumber the sequel" only to have been torn apart from all three sides. I kind of like her. She is smart, hard-working, ambitious, politically motivated, and cares about America. She is crass, extremely crass, but being in Cruz's influence as much as she has that's no surprise. She has the background to really be a great Senator if she ever understands what that background has been. If given the chance I would vote for her as Senator from Texas in a heartbeat, Democratic Senator from Texas that is. ;)

Yeah if she had worked as a community organizer in Chicago and had a D by her name she'd be touted as the next POTUS.
