oops climate changers are wrong again

Anyone here ever heard of National Glazier Park?
IN AMERICA
100 years ago it had over 150 glaciers.
Now it has 25 and shrinking.
They will be gone in less than 30 years.

And folks claim there is no climate change.
NO ice core data ever has revealed this fast of a meltdown of glaciers, EVER.
Anyone that believes this is part of some cycle is not very swift.
The last cycle of this was over 3000 years long, and it was a quick one.
100 years is no cycle. This is real, wake up Americans.

There's a difference between denying climate change and denying that humans cause it. It's a common misconception. I contend that humans play no part in climate change. The climate change you see has been happening since before the dawn of man.

Perhaps we need to look at Ice Core charts:

300px-Ice_Age_Temperature.png

We peaked at a global temp of 3 degrees Celsius about 325,000 and 120,000 years ago, proving that such a phenomena can occur without human interference.

Glacier Retreat in the Pacific Northwest North Cascades National Park

Terminus Behavior
North Cascade glacier retreat is rapid and ubiquitous. All 47 monitored glaciers are currently undergoing a significant retreat or have disappeared in the case of six of them Lyall Glacier, Lewis Glacier, Spider Glacier, Milk Lake Glacier, Mt. David Glacier and North Arm Whitechuck Glacier have disappeared (Right). This retreat on eight Mount Baker glaciers from 1984-2005, each was advancing in 1975, averages 340 m. The data indicate broad regional continuity in glacial response to climate. The rate of retreat increased from 1992-1998 and again in 2003-2006. On each glacier the terminus location is surveyed from a fixed benchmark location beyond the terminus. The terminus is also located utilizing differential GPS to determine location to within a few feet. Glaciers are not just retreating at the terminus, lateral and even retreat at the head of the glacier can also be substantial.

How have glaciers changed over the past century?
Sierra Nevada glaciers have become smaller over the past century. This is evident from early photographs which reveal these glaciers occupying their moraines around 1900. Today, the glaciers have receded up the mountains and appear deflated. I quantified the surface area change by selecting fourteen glaciers throughout the Sierra Nevada and measured the change using historical photographs, geologic evidence, and field mapping. I determined the glaciers lost and average of 55 percent of their surface area by 2004. The decrease in surface area of individual glaciers ranged between 31 and 78 percent.

Sierra Nevada Glacier Change

I selected a subset of seven glaciers to determine the rate of change over the past century. The results indicated that glaciers rapid retreated occurred over the first half of the twentieth century beginning in the 1920s in response to warm/dry conditions and continued through the mid-1970s. Recession ceased during the early 1980s, when some glaciers advanced. Since the 1980s each of the seven study glaciers resumed retreat.

You contend? On what basis? Where are the scientific articles supporting your contention?

The Carbon Dioxide Greenhouse Effect

That site is from the largest Scientific Society in the world, the American Institute of Physics. So what scientific organization supports your contention?

Also that chart is derived from data collected on the Vostok and Dome C ice core experiments.

Hotter weather = global warming. Colder weather = global warming. Huge winter storms = global warming. Arctic ice melts = global warming. Antarctic ice increases = global warming. Just rest assured that any strange or otherwise abnormal weather fits into the global warming narrative.

An extensively peer-reviewed study published last December in the Journal of Atmospheric and Solar-Terrestrial Physics indicates that observed climate changes since 1850 are linked to cyclical, predictable, naturally occurring events in Earth’s solar system with little or no help from us. The research was conducted by Nicola Scafetta, a scientist at Duke University and at the Active Cavity Radiometer Solar Irradiance Monitor Lab (ACRIM), which is associated with the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California. It takes issue with methodologies applied by the U.N.’s Intergovernmental Panel for Climate Change (IPCC) using “general circulation climate models” (GCMs) that, by ignoring these important influences, are found to fail to reproduce the observed decadal and multi-decadal climatic cycles.

A team of MIT scientists recorded a nearly simultaneous world-wide increase in methane levels -the first increase in ten years. What baffles the team is that this data contradicts theories stating humans are the primary source of increase in greenhouse gas. It takes about one full year for gases generated in the highly industrial northern hemisphere to cycle through and reach the southern hemisphere. Since all worldwide levels rose simultaneously throughout the same year, however, it is probable that this may be part of a natural cycle - and not the direct result of man's contributions.

"Earlier we found torch-like structures like this but they were only tens of metres in diameter. This is the first time that we've found continuous, powerful and impressive seeping structures, more than 1,000 metres in diameter. It's amazing," Dr Semiletov said. "I was most impressed by the sheer scale and high density of the plumes. Over a relatively small area we found more than 100, but over a wider area there should be thousands of them."

So where in those links does it say humans caused it?

Probably far above your level of intellect, but for those with an interest in the present weather in Colorado, this lecture by Dr. Jennifer Francis gives a pretty good explanation of what we are seeing in this and the other extreme weather events we have seen increasing in number in the last decade.

Who is Jennifer Francis? You waste my time with lectures from obscure scientists.

I suppose I could try to explain this in words of one syllable. However, the Arctic is experiancing the highest rise in temperature of any area on the planet. So that raises the temperatue of the ocean and land. And the permafrost and ocean clathrates are emitting CH4. A lot of CH4. Which, on a decadal time scale, is over 100 times as effective of a greenhouse gas as CO2.

Who is Jennifer Francis?

A Phd meteorologist that does research and teachs at Rutgers University. Of course, you could have just google her name. Better yet, you could have used Google Scholar and looked up the abstracts of some of her papers published in peer reviewed journals.

Hmmmmmm.

As a person who would like the earth to be healthy....the air fresh and the water clean....I have no problem with attempts to manage our resources so that these aims are met. I think we can all agree on that, no?

I am hopeful that our American nutters do their thing and claim the climate change mantle as their own soon. Eventually, they will revise History in this manner. Why not do it now? As long as you get off your dopey asses and start to petition your legislators to start doing something about it......we'll let you take some of the credit. OK?
