McFarland is also nuts.

She is actually quite talented with much experience on the NSC. President Trump has very clear ideas of what he hopes to accomplish and he expects every part of his administration to work to advance his policies. McFarland has been a close adviser who sees eye to eye with the President and will help to keep the NSC on track to advance the President's policy agenda. This is also the reason he wants Bannon to attend NSC meetings.

If you are qualified for the job, I'm pretty sure you could find another job that would pay as much for a lot less hassle. If Senators make $175,000 a year, I'm sure it isn't more than that.
