Reality sets in for Oregon governor

A kid flipping burgers is still at home. His paycheck is 100 percent disposable income.

So? Does he do a different amount of work than the 30 year old woman next to him who's working the second job in her household to help pay the bills? Ever hear of the 2 earner household?

Why on Earth is a 30 yo woman only able to get a MW job? Sounds like THAT is the problem. You have it ass backwards.

Should I post my picture of a 1000 people lined up for 100 Walmart jobs? Or can you figure that out without a picture?

What on Earth does that have to do with demanding $15/hr MW for kids working at Burger King?

Well I won that bet that you would be too retarded to figure it out.

Not if it puts them out of business.
If you can't pay a decent wage in the US and make money, then you should go out of business, or find a new way of doing business.
Any successful business pays more than minimum wage for anyone doing the job. Otherwise people will leave. Many jobs are low skilled and starter wages is good for the business because they can't hire people to lose money and it's good for the person to begin life in the work force.

You thinking it's a good idea for businesses to shut down instead proves you know nothing about business, economics or the job market.

The notion that there all these people trying to raise families on MW is a total fraud.

It's irrelevant.

It;s highly relevant.... we're talking about for the most part unskilled kids.

That is no longer true.

Exactly, you get what you pay for. A business isn't going to pay an unskilled worker top dollar, there are far too many unskilled workers to choose from

All the more reason to have a minimum wage.

Wrong, all the more reason to have a skilled workforce.. not a bevy of unskilled robots demanding the pay of their skilled counterparts.

It's econ 101.

No it's 3rd world barbarity. Something you seem to be an expert on.

Barbarity?

Now that's rich.

Here's your so-called "barbarity":

  • Disproportionately young: 50.4% are ages 16 to 24; 24% are teenagers (ages 16 to 19).
  • Mostly (77%) white; nearly half are white women.
  • Largely part-time workers (64% of the total).

So what? Who issued the moral license to exploit young people?

Nobody's being exploited.... get over it. Get an education/skill/trade... MW won't be an issue in your life for very long.

It really is that simple.

So? I don't think we should punish kids WILLING TO WORK in this day and age with shit wages.
Depends on what they are doing, flipping burgers and stocking shelves is worth 7$ max. Digging ditches more like 10$ so and so forth...
The progressives fail to understand some jobs can only be paying so much...
They can't be running people's businesses and expect any success... Because career politicians and their federal government have less than zero credibility in these areas...

Who has the credibility to say what that minimum wage is?? Certainly not the career politicians and their federal government.
They have no clue on how to stick to a budget, and make ends meet without overspending. Businesses can not just go out and borrow money thinking that is smart business to cover shortfalls like government does.
That is retardation at best...

If you are 30 years old working at the bottom of the McDonalds chain of command, you made some very bad decisions somewhere along the way.

Not my problem.

You want young people paid less for the same job older people do. That's exploitation.

No, we want a wage to be commensurate with the skill level. If a 30 year old doesn't know how to do anything but flip burgers, she made some very bad decisions in life, and that is HER problem, not society's.

It is your problem because your tax dollars are going to be taken from you to give that family supplemental assistance.

The corporations are passing THAT bill along to you.

I never said that.... younger people get paid less primarily because they by and large don;t have the skill-set/experience of older folks. That's just life bub.

And hey, if you want to be fair, why not enact a law that says everyone gets at least $50k/year?

Again, that is their problem.. they should have done something with their life. Why do I have to pay for that? You have the victims reversed.

And where do you spend the nickel you save on a burger because the kid who made is working for shit wages?

Greedy old white Republican dude is very busy threatening and intimidating all those wanting to help American Workers out. They'll say or do anything to keep their slaves. Sorry to see the Governor roll over in the face of bullying scare tactics. It's the greedy hateful white dudes who run the Republican Party, that almost make me wanna support Bernie Sanders. Maybe we need an extreme Socialist/Communist in there to kick some greedy white Republican ass.

I mean lets face it, even $12 an hr is chump change in today's America. Sure won't get ya much these days. The current U.S. Minimum Wage is a very sad embarrassment. We, as the richest nation on earth, should be able to do much better for our workers. It's absolutely shameful what the greedy white Republican dudes have been allowed to get away with.
...and a minimum wage type job is not a career, never was meant to be. Get off your ass and do something significant and live within your means it's the American way...
Maybe not now but it used to be.
Lol

How is that any of your concern, or for that matter, relevant?

So not only do you want no minimum wage, you also want no help to go to the working poor.

lol, you should lose your citizenship.

I generally do feel that if workers in this country expected more from there employers that wages would go up without any need for government intervention. It is complete bullshit that companies increase their earnings year over year and then tell their employees that their isn't enough money or they can't afford pay increases. When we plenty of jobs in this country it was easy to find an employer who paid more but now it seems that isn't an option anymore. I think people who want to defend the free-market are often put into a position of defending shitty employment practices. Defending big business is not the same as defending the free-market because there are times when employers are pretty nasty to their employees. THose things shouldn't be defended at all because they can't. However, an employer isn't responsible for the welfare of their employees anymore than an employee should be responsible for the welfare of their employer. It is a pretty self-serving system which the communist left has been able to exploit as a moral flaw in capitalism and they have been able to exploit this pretty successfully.
