Renewables have won the race against coal

Can we all at least agree that if this were true, it would be a good thing?
No....At this point, I'd much rater deal with solar farms. These wind turbines destroy otherwise scenic views of the countryside.
While they are initially fascinating to see for their engineering and sheer size, the novelty quickly wears off.
Plus, during summer when weather patterns typically slow and winds are light due to High Pressure systems which sit for weeks, wind turbines basically become idle .
They generate very little power.

I appreciate your info and opinion but would contend that improvements in the near future will make wind a better solution than it is now.

I would go with a 4 pronged attack;

wind, solar, small hydros, oil

as we use/rely MORE on the first 3 we can minimize and eventually end our need for oil.

Maybe someday we can build a dyson sphere :)
Until new substances are developed to replace petro chemicals for the multitude of products we use and for commerce, a fuel source that is just as efficient or miore, delivers the same or better performance and is no more costly than present day sources, have at it. Until then , we must continue with what we have.
As to wind turbines,. Quite frankly there are better ways to generate energy.
Nothing beats Nuclear, Natural Gas fired plants and of course Hydro Power.
I do like the Dyson ball thing....

Was the race to see who could make less useable energy with the most tax payer subsidies? Cause yeah renewables kick ass there.
Nuclear has been subsidized since day one and has never turned a true profit - costs in the deep red, in fact.. Solar and wind, on the other hand, have been suppressed for 40 years or more, so your false comparison means nothing.

These small scale successes are just the beginning of a very long process.
Now, lets be serious. If we heed the rantings of AOC(the world is going to end in 12 years) and other leftists looking to "out left" each other, they imply they want the tap top be closed tomorrow. Leaving the US and the world without a source of energy. All to satisfy the typical millennial penchant for instant gratification.
Politically, we can use this as a weapon against the AOC's and the Illian Omars..These little people want want they want, and they want it now..The best way to distract and infuriate millennials is to tell them they can't have something. Or tell them they have to wait.

Al Gore's alarmist predictions were supposed to come true years ago, and NONE have. AOC's prediction has no basis in fact either, and is just a scare tactic like Gore used to sell his Carbon Credits (SCAM). AOC's twelve year prediction won't come true either. Her wealthy supporters will still have their beach houses, and private jets, and our planet will be just fine unless NATURE decides it won't be. Not Man.

What a joke!
How many barrels of oil did it take to manufacture the panels? How many panels would it take to generate enough electricity to power ONE 18 wheeler full of carrots from the producer to the grocery store. Oh that's right. It couldn't happen b/c the size/number of batteries it would take WOULD FILL THE FUCKING TRAILER!!!!!!! with NO ROOM left for the fucking carrots!
Wise up!

Nice straw man argument.
Nobody says it's panic time yet. Chill, Huckleberry....nobody's weezin off your tricky gig.:113:

It's kinda hard for lefties to understand science and engineering issues with some kind of bullshit arts degree in gay art history or similar. They are experts at running their mouths however. They also have very active imaginations where the tooth fairy and Santa Claus are real.
This isn't a right-left issue.
Nice deflection Huckleberry.
Of course it is. Leftists all defend the hoax because they view it as a means to bring on their socialist Utopia.
We see our country going bankrupt paying for wars for oil.
we''re still paying for WWII

We already have a the most effective energy source that produces ZERO emissions in nuclear energy. Nobody talks about the toxic waste that is used in batteries and solar panels, once they reach the end of their life cycle you got to get rid of it somehow. Renewable is a misnomer for solar energy using batteries. Yes nuclear energy produces waste, an incredibly small ammount compared to what solar panels alone would produce to create the same amount of energy, not including the batteries solar energy would require. It’s also a myth that we don’t have good options to dispose of nuclear waste. We do what we’re doing now. It produces so little nuclear waste, we have enough space to quadruple our nuclear energy capacity and still not make a dent for a couple centuries without building any more storage facilities. Nuclear is so much cleaner and efficient than everything it’s amazing how little it is considered

Correct. As I posted in another thread, the recent improvements in technology for fast-neutron nuclear reactors utilizes nuclear recycling, which produces power from existing nuclear waste (currently being implemented in Europe, and the forthcoming updated PRISM reactors in the U.S.). The entire U.S. electrical grid could be powered for almost 100 years by the energy in the existing nuclear waste in the U.S.

Compared to coal, nuclear power is already far superior from a waste product perspective. A nuclear power station producing 1000MW of power produces approximately 20-30 metric tons of waste annually. The equivalent power output from a coal plant produces that same amount of waste product per hour (in the form of ash, consisting of toxic chemicals such as arsenic, boron, cadmium, chromium, cobalt, copper, lead, mercury, molybdenum, selenium, thallium and uranium).

Coal Ash Is More Radioactive Than Nuclear Waste

In other words, a coal plant produces 10,000 times more waste per megawatt of energy produced than nuclear power. The ability to recycle that nuclear waste to produce continued power skews that ratio even further in favor of nuclear power.
