Detroit's actually a microcosm of what's wrong with the entire country.

Back in the 1950's, Detroid had 300,000 manufacturing jobs, most of them related to the Automotive industry.

Today that number is down to 27,000.

We all know that Obama simply bailed out union pensions. The auto industry still had to change in order to remain competitive. That means jobs were lost here and moved over there. Why? And frankly, as long as GM had enough money to pay their executives 12 figures, I don't want to hear them carping about how they don't have enough money to pay the pensions they promised to pay people.

It's why executive compensation needs to be federally regulated. Betcha they'd fund the pension funds adequately if the Feds cap them at six figures if they don't.

Many of his policies were passed during the first two years of his term.

The original post suggests that it is hypocritical to blame Obama for the economy after he was in office only two years and inherited a seriously messed up economy from GW Bush's administration, while at the same time not blaming the current Republican administration in Detroit for an economy it has had for 2 years and inheritied from another administration. And, as well, blaming Obama for a poor economy when he not only inherited it from someone else, but has to struggle with an obstructionist Senate and Congress in order to get anything passed to help improve things, while at the same time, not blaming the Republican administration in Detroit for not fixing the problem even though they don't have to fight the current government there in order to get bills passed.

It seems again and again, the right wingers are unable to read or understand anything beyond the literal and that things have to be spelled out for your understanding like using alphabet blocks with pre-schoolers.

obama had two years on a non obstructionist congress and did nothing. 4 plus years later he has still not improved it. Detroit does not have a republican administration
