Senator Elizabeth Warren introduces '$10 a day' child care legislation

If Shaniqua is going to get my tax dollars I would rather pay her to stay at home with her four kids than pay some daycare provider so that she can work the drive-thru at McDonalds.

Shaniqua wasn't taught personal responsibility. Go ahead and pay for her lack of that but don't expect everyone to

That's $7.50 an hour for someone to care for your child in a safe environment and feed them at least one meal a day.

Sounds like a genuine bargain.

I suppose. Those group places are germ bombs though. We did it the old fashioned way--dumped them on the grandparents for free whenever we could and paid relatives when the GP's weren't around. The closest daycare to us was a dodgy, expensive, snotty, and understaffed place. Most of the others were a bit out of the way and would involve being on the worst road in town during rushhours.

In what war were your family members having sex?
Gee.... I was born on the day that the US military started carpet bombing Cambodia! 😆

My uncle was born on the day the Marines landed on Iwo Jima. And my father was born (in Germany) while the party in power was taking over Poland. And my son was born here in the U.S. while the party in power was planting imposters in Ukraine! :auiqs.jpg:

This ain't about Shaniqua, it is about those four kids. Either those four kids are going to be working and paying for your Social Security check, going to be in jail and eating off your tax dollars, running gangs that will steal your car, or continuing to perpetuate the cycle of dependency Shaniqua started, or probably just followed.

You brought Shaniqua into it and I responded

Shaniqua's poor choices are not my responsibility.

Shaniqua should demand, Tyrone, Antwan, Malik and unknown daddy step up. ....and she should learn responsibility

If her "poor choices" are not your responsibility, why should her children be?

As one of only a few posters at USMB with a young son at home, I know how hard it can be to find affordable child care you can rely on. That's why I'm calling on everyone, politicians and citizens alike, to join Pocahontas in her FIGHT to give America's working families a helping hand.

Its not enough really. But the con posters are too fucking stupid to understand that it is an investment in the economy.Without childcare people cant work and stay mired in poverty.

Its better than tax cuts for billionaires to get the economy moving.

What you don't realize is that subsidizing child care for low-wage workers does not lift them out of poverty and more than likely extends that poverty to the next generation. That money would be better spent improving the educational opportunities of those living in low-income areas. The Build Back Better act addressed this inequity through subsidies for high-speed internet, that is a step in the right direction. This Warren proposal is shortsighted and misguided.

if it stands for freedom then why are you trying to promote socialist agendas like this one???

immigrants are fine but illegals need to wait their turn and not jump the line in front of people that have waited yrs,,
and I am a native american,,

This isn't a "socialist agenda" you ignorant dolt. With a $7.25 minimum wage, working families don't make enough money for childcare. It's not a socialist agenda that keeps the minimum wages so low that no one can live on the wages. It's a right wing capitalist agenda that keeps workers so poor they can't afford to have children.

The rest of the world's first world nations pay their workers a living wage, provide government funded universal health care, quality education, and generous child tax benefits to assist young families with the costs, like child care and early childhood programs.

ALL of these nations have healthier, happier, better educated and more productive workers, less poverty and more opportunity than the USA. The only real path to success and wealth is the USA today is to be born wealthy. If you're born poor in the USA today, you have a 2% chance of moving up to the middle class. In 1980, before the Republican tax and labour codes, you had a 20% chance.

If you're making $7.25 an hour, you may be as dumb and useless as Dragonlady.

With the liberal idiots in charge of US schools, is it any wonder the kids are poorly educated?

Anyone can make 12-15 at a freaking Taco Bell

Our daughter worked it for awhile.

Where’s the money supposed to come from for this? Americans are struggling with Bideninflation, and we are $30T+ in debt.
Maybe they can divert all the money they are sending to the so-called crisis pregnancy centers and put it towards something that might actually HELP women with children AFTER they are born…like affordable childcare. That’s assuming they care about them post birth.
